My visit to Uhrturm (Clock Tower) in Graz in 2018 was an enchanting experience that provided a unique perspective on the city's history and a magnificent view of its picturesque surroundings. As an iconic symbol of Graz, the Clock Tower stands tall on top of Schlossberg Hill, offering a historical journey and breathtaking panoramas that are truly unforgettable.

The ascent to Uhrturm was an enjoyable adventure. I chose to take the Schlossbergbahn funicular, which offered a scenic and effortless ride to the top of the hill. Alternatively, one can opt for the stairs or hiking trails, which add an element of excitement and exercise to the visit.

Once at the top, the Clock Tower greeted me with its majestic presence. The historical significance of this medieval tower was evident as I explored its architectural marvels and learned about its rich history through informative plaques and guided tours.

The highlight of the visit was undoubtedly reaching the top of the Clock Tower. The view from the observation deck was awe-inspiring, offering a sweeping panorama of the city below. The red rooftops, historic landmarks, and lush greenery created a stunning tapestry, making it a photographer's paradise.

Moreover, the Clock Tower's clock face, with its intricate design and fascinating mechanics, was a sight to behold. Observing the clock's hands move with precision was a delightful experience and a reminder of the tower's integral role in Graz's daily life.

The serene ambiance of Schlossberg Hill, with its well-maintained gardens and peaceful corners, provided a delightful escape from the urban hustle and bustle. It was the perfect spot to unwind, relax, and take in the natural beauty that surrounded me.

In conclusion, the Uhrturm in Graz is a must-visit attraction that seamlessly blends history, architecture, and breathtaking views. Its accessibility, historical significance, and captivating vistas make it a five-star destination in my eyes. If you find yourself in Graz, ascending the Clock Tower should be at the top of your list, offering an experience that will leave you with lasting memories of this charming...

♐️ I did a short research about The Clock Tower (Uhrturm) in Graz, Austria

Location: The tower is located on Schlossberg Hill, a central and historic hill in the heart of Graz. It offers one of the best panoramic views of the city.

History: • The Clock Tower dates back to the 13th century, although its current appearance is from the 16th century after renovations. • It is one of the oldest landmarks in Graz still standing today.

Unique Features: • One curious feature: the clock hands are reversed from the usual design. • The larger hand shows the hours, and the smaller one shows the minutes. • This is because originally the clock only displayed hours, and the minute hand was added later. • The clock face is large and highly visible, making it a recognizable symbol across the city.

Current Use: • While it’s no longer used as a watchtower, the Clock Tower is now a beloved symbol of Graz and a top tourist attraction. • Visitors can access it by walking up the Schlossberg stairs, taking a funicular, or using a glass elevator inside the hill.

Cultural Significance: • The Uhrturm is an icon of Graz’s identity. • It’s often featured on souvenirs, city logos, and is beautifully lit up at night.

Very beautiful to visit specially in...

The Uhrturm is a must see if you visit Graz! There are several options to get there: For exmaple, tunnel spiral (4.4 euro) and 1 day transport card (6.4 euros) or by walking (takes a lot of efforts). I suggest you take 1 day transport card (6,4 Euro) and use the funicular to get to the Uhrturm and you still can use the transport the whole day. There is also a lift in the tunnel spiral, right below the turm, but up and down is 4,4 euros, so the tunnels make sense only if you want to use the spiral attraction.

You can also simply visit the tunnels (1st floor -erdgeschoss) to see the preparation of keeping around 50.000 people under shelter in case of possible bombarding during WWII.

From the abkve, the whole city feels in your hands and the city map just above the scene helps you to grasp the structure of the city and you feel you know the whole city afterwards.

Below the Uhrturm is a nice...
