Das Promenade — Restaurant in Graz

Nicely renovated café with an extensive menu in contemporary style. The management is to be commended for trying to create a special and elegant grand café with obliging service. It is their failure in this endeavor that merits my low rating. Even though the place is not understaffed, the service is often slow. Furthermore on occasion the staffs generally corteous attitude clashes with their gawky snobbishness. I still consider this one of the best cafes in Graz, but the palpable difference between reality and their higher aspiration sours the general impression, especially since the prices are rather high in this light. If this doesn't put you off, I'd especially recommend coming here for breakfast, but they're open from morning till late at night (although unfortunately, sometimes they actually close down before their stated closing time). EDIT: Only one star now. The last couple times we came here the service was impossible, the waiters even rude. Today was the worst. The waiters ignored us for 10 minutes, then forgot our order, then took another 15 minutes to bring it, never apologized, and in the end brought our bill and left with the money without saying a word - and we hadn't complained or argued before; although we probably should have. The location is still nice, but they need to educate or better yet change their staff. For now, avoid this place at all cost. EDIT: And yet it happened that we came here again with someone. Unfortunately nothing has changed. The service is terrible, we always had to get up to walk to the bar and call someone over, because none of the four or five waiters would ever look up or walk past our table, for the more than 10 minutes we kept looking at them. We also had a voucher for a second Gin & Tonic on the house, so we ordered two and when they brought the bill we found out that the waiter decided to interpret our order to mean the most expensive of their five or so different Gin & Tonic choices (which we hadn't known about because they never brought us a menu). It's still a beautiful café, but I'll definitely never walk into this dump again to be ignored and...

I need to admit that the food was extremly delicious, but the reason why I give such a small rate is because of the STAFF! HORRIBLE SERVICE :( the lady waitress was very unpolite unprofessional and with an arrogant attitude, plus not able to do her job properly. We had to change table and after waiting for other 10 min, a guy come to us, asking for the orders. We ordered a ham eggs and cheese and a plate, 2 mango juice and one coffe, kind of normal and simple breakfast:but we had to wait almost 30 min to have it!! :( very very slow service and not at all client oriented. A lot disappointed because the location is great one, quality of the food very good and tasty but with such a bad organisation and service I would recommend it expecially if you are hungry and all you want to have is a BREAKFAST! :( I'm really sorry and hope this experience was just an unusual case that happen because I cannot bealive that such a good place has such a bad...

The waiter(a man) was very impolite to us Asians. First, I was looking for people who joined Golden Girls Meetup in Promenade but failed, so I went inside and asked the waiter if he knew where the girls sat, he went to ask his colleague and murmured: “ Why do I have to know the golden girls?” which is very ridiculous.

Then me and my friend wanted to have a drink with ourselves, that waiter asked us to sit at the last table which was very far and messy, leaves on the table so we decided to sit at a different table. Waited long but no one comes to give the sink menu, then I see that same waiter standing over there and did nothing, so I waved and smiled and said “ Hallo bitte” , but he responded with “ Was???!!!” and neglected me!!!!!
