MARTIN AUER — Restaurant in Graz

The Café Martin Auer here right next to the Campus of the Karl-Franzens-University of Graz is a great coffee shop, which just opened some days ago in late April and marks a central coffee shop hot spot for the students of Graz. It is comfy to sit here as long you are in one of the view few wattled chairs and for the rest of the chairs they could be more comfortable as it is only spartan wood. But the staff is friendly and willing to help and here at this place they follow a new concept, meaning you only can pay with card here at this Martin Auer coffee shop at Sonnenfelsplatz Campus Roundabout.

As this place is part of a bakery chain famous in Graz with shops all across Graz, you get delicious pastries, breads, sandwiches, tarts, cakes and the like. I got a yummy Rosinenschnecke together with a Café Melange, a delicious coffee with creamy milk.

The trendy and "studentish" atmosphere together with the hip music playing in the background gives this place a special note. Its central location makes this place here an ideal starting point to go out in the famous Grazer Studentenviertel, the vibrant student quarter of Graz. They have free WiFi and plugs here and the patio at the Sonnenfelsplatz Roundabout right next to Campus combined with the extended opening hours (7:30 pm), due to the campus on the opposite of the street, is definitely an asset of this place.

Location: in the center of the uni square and therefore always lots of people visiting it.

Bathroom: clean but for both sex

Staff: ok, but not specifically friendly

Menu: wide selection of pastries, stuff to heat up and a small groceries shopping area (milk ect). The drinks are fine and they also have freshly pressed juices.

Tip: definitely go for a round salty pastry thing (O forgot the name, I'm sorry), which is filled with vegetables. On Top there is bacon and a sunny side up Egg. It's the best the got and only available from...

War letztes WE gegen 11 Uhr dort, da war die Auswahl schon äusserst dürftig. Die Abzüge gibts jedoch nicht für die dürftige Auswahl, sondern für das furchtbare Personal! Ich darf gesundheitsbedingt keine Maske tragen, wurde beim hineingehen jedoch schon aus der Ferne dazu aufgefordert eine Maske aufzusetzen - ich habe dem jungen Herren erklärt das ich eben aus gesundheitlichen Gründen keine tragen darf, darauf hin wolte er allen Ernstes ein ärztliches Attest von mir sehen! Ich habe ihm freundlich erklärt das ich meine Atteste weder mit mir herumtrage und sie schon garnicht einem Bäckereiverkäufer vorlegen werde - dazu kam ihm eine ziemlich beleibte Kollegin zur Hilfe (möglicherweise war ja sie ja schuld dran das es kaum mehr was zu essen gab^^) und beflegelte mich regelrecht weil sie es offenbar nicht glauben wollte das ich keine tragen darf... Sie wollte mir darauf hin die Bedienung verweigern und mich schon fast aus dem Lokal schmeissen, ich habe sie dann darauf hingewiesen das sie dies gerne tun kann, ich dies als Diskrimminierung ansehe und Sie dies bitte bei laufender Handykamera gerne wiederholen darf - hat sie dann natürlich nicht gemacht, ihrem Blick nach hätte sie mich aber gerne gefressen und die gekaufe Ware hat sie mir mit bösem Blick regelrecht entgegengeworfen!

Ich darf dem Geschäftsführer empfehlen, die sich als Blockwarte aufspielende Mtarbeiter auf den korrekten Umgang mit Kunden zu schulen oder einfach auszutauschen. Werde dem Standort jedoch eine zweite Chance einräumen und die Bewertung ggf anpassen sofern ich trotz meiner Krankheit gebührlich...
