A couple of weeks ago some friends & me decided to try out this new hip spot in Linz, that all the the cool kids were talking about for ages. In dreary weather we arrived at Haschka Winebar, where we were greeted by friendly faces with one waitress offering us their best table. This commonly happens to me so it didn't take me by surprise and we accepted without hesitation. The evening was set to begin. Browsing through the wine-menu, I could not help but think: "Someone here sure does have an exquisit taste of wine!" Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Chablis, ... just a few of names that popped up from our french amis. After getting the know the owner who was in charge of this fine selection, we decided to start our journey in good old Champagne. After a while the lights were dimmed and we began to feel like fireflies because of all the Dom Perignon Luminous bottles on our table. Not a big deal. With the occasional shot of Azul-Tequila even our spanish started to improve. All that money for my Babbel spanish classes finally paid off. After a long day of sightseeing, we settled in Haschka winebar for a glass (read: bottle) of red and some nibbles.
We were in for a treat!
First and most importantly: the service was great! The staff spoke English with us, suggested local Austrian wines and when our meat platter was not available, they sorted us out with a fantastic alternative. All the while, they topped up the water bottles without us having to ask for it.
