Would like to make this more of a balanced review than a rant so first the positives: the food was actually served very promptly, came in decent sized portions and was of decent quality. The beer garden where we sat was also very nice to dine in.
Unfortunately, that's about where the positives end, as the following things really tarnished the overall experience: firstly upon arrival, the restaurant seemed about 3/4 full and when asking for a table for two, the first waiter barely looked around before asking us to share with another customer when it was clear that other unoccupied tables were available. When we were eventually given our own table, we were made aware that we had to finish our meal and vacate the table within 50 minutes, as it had been pre-booked ,which we thought was reasonable at first. Though, when our server, a middle aged woman who seemed a little impatient, came to take our order, we asked for a little time to look at the menu options first before being sternly reminded that we had to leave the table in time for the next group, which then made us feel somewhat rushed.
After having our beermats slapped down in front of us before our beers were beers were brought out, we didn't think we were actually getting a 'decent level' of service by any standards. While we did manage to finish our meals around 15 mins before the end, it did take a while to finally pay our bill as the server had to get round a few other tables before reaching us. At this point we were feeling a little anxious that we may have overstayed our welcome there but then while making the payment the server asked us if we would like to give a tip to which I politely declined. However, what followed next really left us with a sour taste in the mouth as the server gave us a lecture on the expectation that restaurants in Austria have of customers tipping and that not doing so is frowned upon. While I may not be the world's biggest tipper I have always believed that restaurants should never ask/demand tips from their customers, especially if they've given nothing more than very important average - bad service. The restaurants that get my tip are usually ones that don't ask for it but give a good enough service for me to want to return to them in the future, when I will on occasion allow them to keep the change or give a little extra in recognition of 'good service '.
Because of this I will not be going back to this restaurant and would urge the management to recognise the fact that pressuring or lecturing customers to tip never works in the long run and will...
Read moreThe food was spectacular, the place is very nice but the service was a bit strange. We made a reservation and were seated at the high table with stools. We asked to change fot standard table with chairs and I am sure that with a bit of effort it could be arranged (while we were waiting for dishes several tables were left free) but it was like ' this is what we have and you take it or leave it'. And at the end of our dishes the waiter came and tried to seat at our table some strange guy ! When we said no, he seemed to be angry, not to mention the poor guy standing just behind which was put in this awkward situation. To be clear: if we came without reservation and you would told us upfront that you have a table but it may be shared, than it is no problem. But we reserved a table, and putting your guests in such an ucomfortable situation that you bring another guest to a table and try to seat him is not ok. I think you guys are really successful ( great food and place full of guests) but became too greedy and arogant at the same time. Maybe try to serve a bit less people but with proper engagement and care, and you will not need to run around that much in full chaos. We got excellent food indeed, but probably will...
Read moreDie Weisse is a must-visit for food enthusiasts who are looking for a perfect dining experience. From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was blown away by the warm and cozy atmosphere, which immediately put me at ease.
The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, providing me with recommendations and catering to my every need throughout the meal. The menu boasts a wide variety of dishes, but the standout for me was the roasted pork. It was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender, with a perfect balance of flavors. The sides that came with it were also delicious, adding an extra layer of texture to the dish.
After the main course, I indulged in the dessert, and it was simply yummy. The presentation was stunning, and the flavors were incredible, making it the perfect way to end the meal.
To top it off, the beer selection was impressive, and the staff were knowledgeable about the different types and flavors, making it easy to find the perfect match for my meal.
Overall, I highly recommend Die Weisse for anyone looking for a great dining experience. The food, staff, beer, and atmosphere were all fantastic, and I can't wait to go back and try more...
