We took the train into Salzburg from Vienna and the hotel is a 15 minute walk from the main train station and is easy to navigate. The hotel doesn’t have any parking, but there is a public underground parking lot a block away.|The hotel is pretty central with a 2 min walk to the pedestrian zone and then just over the bridge (10 mins walk) into the old town area. There is a bar at the hotel but no restaurant, there are numerous restaurants close by and there is a Spar supermarket approx. 2 blocks away where you can grab drinks and snacks. The majority of the sites are within walking distance and to get the bus to the palace outside town you can easily get the No 25 bus at Mirabellplatz||The person checking us in was very helpful and gave us a map and pointed out a few things to us. The key to the room was an actual key with a large bulky key ring that you hand into reception each time you leave the room. There was always someone at reception to get it when we came back, although we were never too late coming back.||Our room was on the ground floor and wasn’t big but still had enough room for everything. The double bed was comfortable and had 2 separate duvets. There was only one pillow per person and the pillows were very soft, we didn’t know if any other pillows were provided or if you had to pay for them. To try and make them a little firmer we both folded the pillows in half and slept on them like that, it was only for 3 nights, but any longer we might have had some neck issues||We choose a room with air conditioning and you have to put the key room into a switch inside the door to turn on the electric, this meant that if you to lock or unlock the door when you are inside you had to turn the electrics off to use the key. The AC worked but it was positioned beside the door and bathroom and not in the centre of the room, so the area at the door was cold, but the rest of the room didn’t cool down too much. The room had a flat screen TV (we didn’t turn it on so don’t know if there were any english channels) a working table and chair as well as a fridge in the room, but no tea & coffee making facilities (like most Austrian hotels)||The bathroom was small and there wasn’t a lot of room around the sink for toiletries, the shower was a good size and the water pressure was fine. The hair dryer is connected to the wall in the bathroom, it was small but overheated after a couple of minutes of use and then wouldn’t come on again for ages, my hair had air dried by that stage.||Breakfast is until 10:30 and there is a large sitting area and if the weather is good you can sit outside on the outdoor patio – although watch out for wasps. Breakfast is small but good with croissants and bread to toast, in a 4 slice toaster, although the toaster only toasted one side so I had to put it in again to toast the other side. There may have been a button to press to do both sides but I didn’t see one. The hot food was scrambled eggs and bacon and there was a lot of cold food, meats, cheese, salad, cereal and juices||The wifi is free and is good throughout the hotel, there is no fitness area||Overall this is a comfortable hotel for a couple of nights in Salzburg. The staff were friendly and the hotel was...
Read moreThis hotel was a terrible experience. Starting with the fact that at 6:00 am we woke up to use the restroom and opened the door and there was 50 bees in the bathroom. We went and told the concierge down stairs and they told us somebody would be up in 30 minutes max to take care of it. Nobody showed up u til 12 noon!! Also the hotel is not clean. They change the sheets once every 3 days.. The a/c did not work properly. You go there thinking there is A/c the they try to charge you 10 euros a day! We had to get ac because it was to hot and there was only a vent in one room.. When we went down to get the A/c and we told them we were expecting ac when we booked the room. The staff and owner were so rude. He started yelling get out of my hotel I don't want you here. We said we were going to leave a review he threatened us that he was going to get a lawyer and come after us.. Also the room did not provide us with any soap or shampoo. We had to go to the local Spar grocery store to buy both. Definitely avoid this hotel at all costs. If we were familiar with the city or if it wasn't such a packed time to go there (due to music festival) we would have left and found another hotel. Also the wifi was terrible would come and go come and go. We were having a hard time doing business back home due to the wifi. For your own good, book a room somewhere else. Especially if you are traveling with children and family.
In response to the hotel owner. That is all false. Nobody leaves food in a bathroom. The doors of the bathroom were also closed. The window was cracked due to the hotel staff. No need to argue with anybody on a review, the hotel staff is very unprofessional and rude and people should know to avoid this hotel. I am not the only one leaving a review with the same...
Read moreI staid here from April 21st to the 24th in room #209.
No way this is a 4 star hotel. First off the bathroom was not properly cleaned. The rubber seal on the bottom of the shower door was not properly placed and from the looks of it, was the original rubber piece from the extent of the mold that it had on it. The cleaning service didn’t not place this on the shower door the entire 3 days we stayed and left a pool of water on the floor after every shower. Outdated rooms. I sharing the room with my dad and they had the two twin bed pushed together. Not suitcase stands to speak of either.
On our last night, a very large group was checking into the hotel. These guests were yelling to each other down the hall at 10 PM. Not the hotel’s fault. However, I looked at the phone to call the front desk, no mention of any front desk or reception # on the phone. I went down to the front desk to speak with a lady who was clearly overwhelmed by the number of guests. Not her fault either. I do believe it’s the hotel’s fault to employ one desk manager during this large group’s check in and to not keep the order within the rest of the hotel.
The breakfast was very mediocre. One morning the eggs looked more like egg soup.
A different front desk lady from the story above told us wrong information multiple times.
The hotel is not far from old town and not a bad location.
I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.
Comment to reply: the hotel I am posting from is in Vienna, hardly...
