Cafe Restaurant Maximilian — Restaurant in Vienna

This place is the most disappointing one in Vienna so far. The atmosphere is really appalling, dated interior, huge tv that dominates the lounge but it's not even plugged in, uncomfortable tables, horrible looking and sticky menus, the list goes on. The service was painfully slow, I think we waited around 40 minutes for a schnitzel, and the place was basically empty, no crowd. On waiter (very polite though) and one cook, made everything take way longer than needed. The food is massively overpriced. Not bad by no means, but definitely does not justify the hefty price. Horrible sodas too. I would definitely not recommend this...

After having the Original Sacher Torte cake from Hotel Sacher, I wanted to understand how other places mimic this cake. This restaurant had Sacher Torte on its menu, so I went in and tried it.

It was a normal dry sweet chocolate cake. The icing was greasy (not solid like the original) and was applied only on the top (not on the periphery/wall like the original), and was more sugary than chocolatey. The whipped cream was also mildly sweet, and there was no middle layer of apricot jam.

Utter disappointment....

I've just had a breakfast at this caffe. We ordered tosts with my boyfriend and we were waiting 45 min. Then we asked about our food, and waiter brought it in 5 min and said that they just forgot about us. My vegetarian tost was terrible I even didn't finish it. Probably the begetables were not fresh. The prices are super expensive for such low quality of food. I definitely don't recommend this restaurant. The only one thing which can attract it is tables outside...
