Falkensteiner Stüberl — Restaurant in Vienna

Came here for late lunch around 3pm and the place was definitely almost empty. Great food and biiig portion for the price. I ordered the Gemüsestrudel (vegetable strudel) and i loved every bit of it. I am not a vegetarian but it didn't make me long for some meat (if that makes sense 😅). The strudel itself, the creamy garlic sauce, and the potatoes were my favourite. My boyfriend ordered the menu of the day which was a Pork Cordon Bleu with Salbei (idk of the name in English) sauce. Huge portion and was nice too. It came with salad and very nice soup. Wished there were more non-alcoholic cold drink choices.

Atmosphere-wise, we liked the murals but it felt a bit too dark as curtains were closed. The furniture was also more on the basic side. I've been to other Austrian/Bavarian restaurants that could build atmosphere with wooden benches and tables so i believe this restaurant could still improve.

My boyfriend and I have been to this restaurant because it was around 3pm and there wasn't a big choice nearby. We sat in an empty 80s styled room and we took the menus (in English) from a shelf by ourselves, when the waitress came to take the order she couldn't understand which dish I was ordering and started saying that it wasn't available on the menu in German... So I had to show her a picture that was on google maps of what I wanted! She was very rude and not friendly with us, but the worst happened when my boyfriend asked for the wifi password, she just looked at him and went away annoyed snorting in his face. Fabulous restaurant! We came early after a visit to the art gallery. The food was very tasty. We ordered the Viennese soup & soup with pancakes to start. For mains, we ordered the goulash & pork ribs, fries and salad. The ribs were huge so hubby, helped me out as it was far too much for me. The dessert was hot apple strudel. I had pancakes with ice cream. The service is brilliant. I really enjoyed the wine with elderflower X 2. The two gentlemen staff were attentive and polite and spoke superb English.
