This new place near Vienna’s main train station and Belvedere palace offers typical venezuelan food. Their main dishes are Arepas. They offer 5 of the best known different arepas two of which are vegetarian and vegan. We ordered two of them, a “Pelua” and a “Reina Pepiada” the arepas were offered with a refill drink for free as a special opening promotion. Apart from that we ordered venezuelan empanadas, fried and filled with cheese and meat. The food is excellent! Tasty, big in size, warm and authentic. The presentation was prety good as well. It reminds you to a typical venezuelan arepera. The owners want to make you feel that way and they acheive it really good. The attention by its owners is very welcoming. We watched how they explained to people who had never had an Arepa what it was and how the could order it. The explaination in german was pretty accurate and clear. We had a nice chat over our own experiences as migrants in Austria. Very friendly staff and open to all requests. The price of all food is good, not too expensive but high enough to offer good big portions. We are in all extremely happy to have a new place to eat the best venezuelan arepas in town! Way to go guys! Keep up the good...
Read moreThe food is good, although it isn't exceptional to me. However, the whole experience was really meh, that I feel like I don't want to spend time and energy to get there again. What made me feel that way, is the service. They weren't rude or unfriendly, but they were sloppy. The whole decor really lacks luster, and the chair seat cushions are dirty. It took the server a few minutes to realize that I was there even when the cook saw me. The server spent minutes talking to his friend without paying attention to getting the food or other customers. And when he brought the food out, he was so clumsy that pieces of bananas fell out on to the table.
I generally want a mom-and-pop store to succeed. I think they would face rough competition if they don't pay attention to details. But I do hope this place will improve, and that locals would appreciate Latin flavors in their...
Read moreWe arrived a few minutes after the opening time of 11 am which was confirmed by both Google and by a handwritten table in the window of the place. It was closed. On question they told us they will open in 20 minutes. We waited. In order to be fair with them we waited 30 minutes instead if 20. Going back they were still closed. On question they told they need an other 15 minutes which would have been already 12:00 with a stated opening time of 11:00. This time we did not believe it anymore. If you are after a restaurant which is disrespecting the customers with an actual opening time 60 minutes after the stated one this is your place. Pro tip for the plac: if you want to be open from 11 am instead of 12 which is entirely your choice and your personnel arrive for 11:00 am it won't work... ;) 1 star is only because I could not give...
