I've been to this bar several times now, and it's just amazing. It's very small and cozy, and you can hear the train running above (which is kind of funny and charming). One bartender is nicer than the other, and they can recommend the best drinks for your individual taste (they are really tasty and cheap as well)! I recommend the Kate's shot, for everyone who doesn't like overly sweet drinks but also for those who do... it's the best! The atmosphere is great, with good music and a "Wuzeltisch" (table soccer), which is used very often. The music played depends on the taste of the bartender—often nice remixes of older and newer songs—and you can always request a song. If you can beat the bartender at table soccer, you’re either really great or just lucky at this game! They are very open and friendly, and you can even reserve the bar with a bigger group, which is a nice option. They have free Wi-Fi. The operating hours offer something for everyone: in the morning, it’s mostly quiet; around noon, it starts to get busy; in the afternoon, it depends on the weather but is mostly well-visited. In the evening, there are often quite a few people, making it a great time to meet new faces at the bar or the "Wuzeltisch". I will definitely...
Read moreFound this place thanks to google reviews and thought I’d write one so here I am couple months later:) This bar was my first Vienna experience and set the awesome mood for the whole trip. I arrived late evening, dropped my bag at my hotel and decided to walk around prater park and have one beer... Well I ended up partying all night:) The bartender and co owner Miguel was super friendly, he asked me about my visit to Vienna, told me about their bar and that it’s named after Catherine the great , empress of Russia. They even had a Samovar in the bar :) You can see how he actually cares about their service and each costumer. And btw he speaks very good English which is not so common in Vienna. All other people there were locals and I guess regulars to the bar, they were also very friendly and soon we were all drinking shots, talking and having fun. And yes I was there as a female solo traveler and not just I felt completely safe and comfortable but had a great time and somehow local...
Read moreThe ratings for this place is very misleading. Let me start with the obviously bad reasons and then I will get to others that might be a preference thing. So Coffee and drinks are the only thing they do and they do it terribly. We ordered a latte and a hot chocolate and they were probably the worst I have ever paid money for. The hot chocolate was made out of instant hot chocolate powder that tasted like a milk additive and not chocolate. The latte was piping hot and white with almost no coffee in it and looked like there was no effort put into it. They also have nothing but drinks, not even dessert and crisps but that might be how they do it sometimes in Vienna. In any case, there is no reason to be drinking coffee in this place if you...
