Livingstone — Restaurant in Vienna

My girlfriend took me here as a birthday present. The waitress took us to a four person table. Almost immediately after we had sat down, waitress brought another couple to this same table. We were something like half of their age so it could have been a family evening. I just thought "tonight I'm not going to complain about anything because my girlfriend is trying her best." But it was a mistake because the other couple was having their 34th wedding anniversary and of course the wife was complaing about the situation to her man (not to the waitress). I don't speak good enough German so I couldn't understand. My girlfriend is from Austria so she could understand everything and her evening was ruined even if she kept smiling to me. (We are speaking English to each other). I don't know how can they have been so amateur because even in the cheapest Chinese restaurants you get your own table....

I wanted to like this as I have been past a few times on my way to the 'hidden-ish' bar out back of this place.

Decor, vibe and mood is super cool and brings you back to the feeling of the British Indian explorers. Staff are fast and friendly upon arrival and quickly usher you to your table. Booked in advance of course.

Coming in for a bit of a late supper the experenece felt very rushed and a little overwhelming.

After ordering an aperif, which was deliverd fast-fast. Nice. Then came my wine, then food all at once. Not even enough time to have more than a few sips and relax into the environment before the next item was upon you.

I had the burger (Livingstone), which was ok. A little too salty which was the concenus at the table which spoilt the experience somewhat. I was not asked how the meal was or able to give any feedback before the dish was whisked away and the...

Nach der Neuübernahme waren wir sehr gespannt auf das "neue" Livingstone, das in den letzten Jahren ja immer wieder den Betreiber gewechselt hatte. Die Einrichtung ist unverändert - Gottseidank - es war auch nicht notwendig, an diesem sehr gediegenen und besonderen Stil etwas zu ändern. Die Belegschaft ist neu und sehr bemüht. Wir mussten nie lange auf etwas warten und haben uns durchgehend sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Speisekarte hat ganz klar die meisten Änderungen abbekommen. Sie ist jetzt deutlich reduzierter als davor, sprich es gibt von allem einfach ein bisschen weniger Auswahl. Leider konnte ich mein geliebtes "Greater Omaha US Prime" auf der Karte nicht mehr finden und so habe ich mich dann für ein "normales" 300g Filetsteak entschieden. Etwas überrascht hat mich, dass der Servicemitarbeiterin mit der Garstufe "bleu" nicht viel anfangen konnte - das hat aber an der Tatsache, dass das Steak sehr gut geschmeckt hat, Gottseidank nichts geändert. Empfehlenswert ist auch der Markknochen zur Vorspeise, der in einem nett/lustig anzusehenden Stroh-Bett serviert wird. Auch wenn sich nicht jeder für Markknochen begeistern kann, sollte man den unbedingt probieren! Das Beef Tartar war ebenfalls sehr gut, hätte aber gern ein bisschen mehr sein dürfen. Sehr positiv ist mir aufgefallen, dass das Lokal an diesem Samstag abend nahezu ausgelastet war. Das hab ich im alten Livingstone leider in der Form lange nicht mehr gesehen - obwohl es durchaus verdient gewesen wäre. Zusammenfassung: Personal sehr in Ordnung, Einrichtung schön wie immer, Essen einwandfrei, auch wenn es an das des alten Livingstone nicht ganz herankommt. Wir werden trotzdem...
