Unfortunately, after 2 years as a happy customer of this restaurant, today I find myself having to do a very negative review. Metcha matcha was for a long time the restaurant where I found the real flavors of Japan, especially the Tonkustu ramen and Takoyaki. In addition to the taste I have always appreciated the fact that "ideally" the preparations were all made at home and not outside, thus giving me guarantees from the point of view of health ... all this to date. Today, on October 3 at lunch I ordered an Onigiri bento box, consisting of two onigiri, one with tempura and the other with chicken. At the first bite of the chicken I immediately realized both the consistency and the taste, that the meat was raw. I placed the meat on the plate and opened it to discover that the color also confirmed my doubts. Since I've always appreciated this place and their "ideal" quality, I discreetly called the waitress (so as not to make a scene in front of other customers) to point out the problem. At the beginning she was surprised at the sight of the chicken and told me that she also thought it was uncooked, she took the dish and went to the kitchen, then came back with the dish telling me that from the kitchen they are sure that it was cooked despite the color, also because "comes from the factory and are pre-cooked". Needless to say, I was shocked by the response and attitude. First of all, even if they were pre-cooked, such as the chicken nuggets you buy in the shop, they are not completely cooked (but fried for about thirty seconds to stop the breadcrumbs), the cooking is completed in the restaurant and certainly a completed cooking does not have the pink type of raw meat. Secondly, I was surprised by the justification, which did not refer in any way to the meat given to me, therefore to its color and texture, but rather to their production chain that I find not to be all homemade. So what does the writing in front of the menu "Everything is homemade, so some dishes can be limited from day to day"? Finally, I had to insist on the fact that it was dangerous that the kitchen was convinced of the cooking and did not question the fact that it was not cooked, in addition to that I did not even receive an excuse. I would like to point out that I was constantly friendly and kind in the discussion taking care to remain discreet inside the restaurant. Unfortunately I do not know if I will come back, I will probably give the opportunity to the restaurant to give me further explanations or to make up for the service, but in the meantime I attached the image of the chicken, I expect an answer and I already inform you that if I should have any consequences from the consumption of this raw meat I will not hesitate to proceed through legal proceedings, because the consumption of raw chicken meat is one of the cornerstones of safety in the field of foodservice, and its inattention can lead to serious health consequences. Pre-cooked or uncooked chicken meat when cooked is white and not pink! It is true that as soon as a place starts to become more frequented it starts to sin...
Read moreIt’s a Japanese restaurant with absolutely ZERO hospitality. We’re a table of 3 Asians in the restaurant, but what my friends and I have got today is pure disappointment from waiters who have no service mind at all.
Throughout the entire time that the lady with the 2-long-braids hairstyle (not Asian but can speak perfect Japanese) attended us, we could sense that she had no intention of wanting to serve us at all.
We arrived at the restaurant at around 5pm, in which we’re not the only table that came in without reservation. However, we’re the only table that was informed by the lady that we’re allowed to sit in for maximum 2 hours only. On the other hand, the lady interacted with all other customers with a smile and friendly tone/expression and checked on them if they’re okay with the food and etc. But for our table, it’s completely the opposite. She did not even bother to do all of that. Our food orders were very small and simple, but she just looked at our table from time to time and there was no interaction from her at all. She just later came to clear the bowls and plates just to get us out from the table as soon as possible.
Soon after, we went to get the bill from the Japanese waiter. Again, by the way he talked to us, he was all about not being approachable and unfriendly expressions. He helped us in a way that he just wanted us to be done with the bills quickly. As soon as soon as we’re walking towards the entrance door, his joyful face and laughter could be seen while talking to the lady.
All I can say is that this is a total DISCRIMINATION against Asian customers! I don’t care what kind of explanations you will be giving to me, it’s truly a heartbreak to get a first-hand experience of discrimination and unfair treatment from an Asian restaurant that we thought would be a comfort zone for a taste close to home. Not recommending to anyone...

As soon as you step inside, it feels like you’ve been transported to a cozy, authentic corner of Japan. The atmosphere is incredibly warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed and intimate dining experience.
SERVICE 4/5: I’ve been here twice, and the service has always been impeccable—fast, kind, and professional. However, after the initial order, they don’t check in as much, which can be a little inconvenient if you want to order more. Since they’re always packed, you might need to actively get the waiter’s attention.
FOOD 5/5: The food is absolutely outstanding—authentic Japanese cuisine presented with care and attention to detail. Their bento boxes and serving platters are beautifully curated, and every dish bursts with flavor. While their daily "tacos" are a must-try, I also tried their sushi, and I have to say, it’s probably the best I’ve ever had. Even though sushi isn’t their main specialty, you shouldn’t leave without trying it!
