Walked in on a Friday night during dinner time—huge thanks to the amazing server who squeezed us in for an hour before the next reservation. The restaurant is tiny, probably around 15 tables, but it has a great atmosphere—cozy and intimate, definitely a good date spot.
Now, onto the food. It’s not bad, but it’s also not particularly good.
The beef skewer was way overcooked, and the mushrooms had a rubbery texture. On the flip side, the chicken dish was actually quite tasty. If you’re just looking to impress with the setting and atmosphere, then sure—this place might do the job.
The fried prawn salad was nicely fried, but the mix of sauces—both on top and with the lettuce—ended up being overwhelming. The sauce with the lettuce, in particular, was too strong and overly salty.
The spicy tuna roll was forgettable, but I did appreciate the creativity behind the ceviche roll. I could see the vision and effort, especially the crispy topping for flavor balance. That said, the rice was poorly packed, causing the roll to fall apart too easily.
Funny enough, the highlight for me was the sesame mochi—absolutely delicious (well rep its name). The ice cream mochi was good, but nothing special.
One concern: for a place that markets itself as Japanese fusion, it was surprising not to see a single Japanese or Asian chef in the kitchen. It felt like the menu was more tailored to a European audience than an authentic fusion experience.
If you’re Asian and looking for a comforting, nostalgic meal—this won’t be it. And honestly, with this price point, it wouldn’t survive in NYC...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant with high expectations after seeing it featured on Michelin’s website, and overall, it was a memorable experience with both highs and lows.
We started with some sushi: the Surf & Turf and the Hamachi Tiradito. The Surf & Turf was pleasant but not particularly exciting, while the Hamachi completely blew us away. It was truly unique, and definitely one of the highlights of the evening.
Next came the Kushiyaki mix. Here, the skewered meats were a bit underwhelming—slightly dry and lacking the punch we had hoped for. In contrast, the vegetable skewers were a delight. The flavors of the marinade had soaked beautifully into the vegetables, making them the real stars of the dish.
The Tori Karaage was another standout. Large pieces of chicken, perfectly crispy on the outside yet wonderfully juicy on the inside, served with a tasty dipping sauce—it was everything you want from karaage and more.
Finally, the Burnt Lemongrass Chicken was nothing short of spectacular. Bold, aromatic, and incredibly flavorful, this dish alone made the entire experience worthwhile.
On the drinks side, the wine list was impressively extensive. I struck gold with my very first choice: the Tsoulikouri 2023. It was so good that I happily stuck with it for the rest of the evening, enjoying four glasses in total. Highly recommended.
In the end, while not every dish lived up to our lofty expectations, the highlights more than compensated. Some bites were simply good, while others were out of this world. All in all, a very...
Read moreI’ll start with the good, the service was friendly and the ambience was nice. Tasteful decor. However, I expected more for a Michelin bib gourmand restaurant. The chicken thigh yakitori was OK- some little bits were blackened which gave little bits of it that bad burned aftertaste. The eel nigiri was really delicious. However the scallop nigiri tasted off, and unpleasantly bitter. The rhubarb dessert I didn’t like at all, and left the whole thing. They gave me a chocolate mousse on the house because they noticed I didn’t eat the dessert, but I didn’t really like the mousse either. The desserts really weren’t well balanced, I’d take them off the menu entirely. The cream was overwhelmingly sweet, rhubarb sour, and crumbles an in-cohesive flavor. I get what they were going for with adding texture but it didn’t work. The mousse was two note, raspberry and chocolate, overwhelmingly sweet. The worst part was about 10 minutes after leaving, my stomach started to hurt terribly. It was definitely something I ate there. I had horrible stomach cramps/pains and sickness following. I won’t go into the details, but I didn’t have anything else to eat and this came upon pretty soon after leaving the restaurant, so I’m certain it was from something there. Maybe the scallops I thought were off? I trusted all of the great reviews.. assumed they know how to handle their shellfish. I don’t know what made me sick here, and I’ll spare you the details, but I’m stuck having to stay close to the bathroom now and I am...
