My recent dining experience at Das Loft Wien, a Michelin-starred restaurant, was a culinary journey that showcased creativity, culinary craftsmanship, and impeccable service. While the menu delivered exceptional flavors and a dining experience to remember, it is essential to note that it comes with a higher price tag.
The menu at Das Loft Wien boasts a range of dishes that are artfully crafted and beautifully presented. Each plate is a work of culinary mastery, with a careful balance of flavors, textures, and visual appeal. The attention to detail and the use of high-quality ingredients are evident in every bite, and the dishes truly exemplify the creativity and skill of the talented chefs.
However, it is important to be prepared for the higher price point that comes with dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant. The exquisite dining experience and the elevated culinary creations do come with a cost. The menu reflects the level of precision and artistry put into each dish, and this is reflected in the final bill. It is worth considering this aspect and budgeting accordingly to fully enjoy the experience without any surprises.
The service at Das Loft Wien is exceptional, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who go above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. The staff is well-versed in the intricacies of the menu, providing helpful recommendations and accommodating any dietary preferences or restrictions. The attentive service adds an extra layer of sophistication to the overall experience.
The ambiance of Das Loft Wien is elegant and stylish, with a modern and upscale decor that creates a refined and intimate atmosphere. The panoramic views of the city from the restaurant's elevated position add to the sense of occasion and create a captivating backdrop for a memorable dining experience.
If you are willing to indulge in an extraordinary culinary experience and appreciate the artistry and innovation that comes with a Michelin-starred menu, Das Loft Wien is definitely worth considering. However, it is important to be prepared for the higher price point associated with such a dining experience. With its exceptional dishes, attentive service, and stunning views, Das Loft Wien offers a dining experience that is sure to leave a...
Read moreWe made a reservation to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had high expectations for both the food and the overall experience.
On the positive side, the restaurant is beautiful—stylishly decorated, with very comfortable chairs and amazing views of the city. At night, the rooftop lights create a stunning atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive, which we really appreciated.
When we made the reservation, we were asked if we were celebrating something—I mentioned our anniversary—but unlike someone at a nearby table who got a little birthday cake, we didn’t get anything at all. It’s not that we expected much, but it did feel like we were kind of overlooked. When you’re spending that much on a special night out, it’s a bit disappointing to see others being acknowledged and not you.
We also chose the wine pairing menu. Some of the wines were delicious, while others weren’t really to our taste. If you enjoy discovering new wines from small producers, it’s a fun experience—the explanations were interesting too. But if you want to be sure you enjoy every glass, you might be better off choosing your own wine.
As for the food, it was a bit hit-and-miss. The pork belly, the bread and butter, dessert, and the sides were all really good. But the main issue was with the steaks. We ordered one medium rare and one medium well, and although they were served cut in different sizes (which made us think they’d been cooked accordingly), both turned out to be well done. That was disappointing. On top of that, the sauce was overly salty—luckily the creamy gnocchi and cauliflower on the side helped balance it out.
All in all, it was a nice evening with beautiful views and good service, but I’m not sure I’d go back. For the price, the food didn’t quite live up to...
Read moreWhat would have been an amazing experience for our friend’s anniversary was negated by a hostile manager. We made a reservation for a Wednesday night and selected the second row of seating with the expectation we would order drinks and have light appetizers before going elsewhere for dinner. The booking site mentions and I quote “In the second row of tables, we provide the option to order from our à la carte menu”. The first row has a mandatory 4 course menu. We had 3 rounds of drinks and asked for the bill (186 euro plus 30 euro tip). The appetizers weren’t cocktail friendly. They were soups and plated foods that would require a fork or spoon.
Our waiter was excellent. Very attentive and friendly. Upon asking for the bill the floor manager came over to the table and asked, already knowing the answer, if we were ordering food. We said no and this prompted him to say it was within his right to charge us 550 euro for tying up his table. He was a complete jerk about it. Made us feel like the bad guys for not spending what he imagined was an acceptable amount to spend.
If the restaurant has a customer spending expectation, share it with the customer during the reservation process (or anytime). There were follow-up emails confirming the reservation and they only mention that “no shows” will be charged 25 euros per person.
There were several empty tables around us. Seems he could have found appreciation in us coming and spending 186 euros on the highest margin products they sell.
Note to future guests. Don’t go to Das Loft if you don’t spend 550 euros amongst 4 people (in the second row), you may get berated by the manager for not spending what he deems...
