We had our table reserved from 6 PM and were told after making the reservation that the table will be only secured for two hours and that the restaurant does not take or guarantee a table on the terrace. Actually in hindsight the terrace and the view is the only reason to recommend this place. Since we arrived at 6 PM we got our table for 4 persons on the terrace and were able to stay there until we left at around half past nine - which was actually really nice.
Talking food; the restaurant offers two set dining menus :one more on the vegetarian side and one that includes the fish and meat of the day, as well as À la carte. We opted for the set menue as we expected this to be the best option to get the full experience. However, the waitress informed us that we - as a table of 4 - cannot mix these two set menus - therefore instead of going for two veg and two others - we went for the veg mainly menu (40 EUR each). I actually cannot fathom this rule since we later discovered that the two set menus are identically the only difference was a course of two tiny skewers of pulpo and a "steak" dish.
The portion size of the set menu was ridiculous, with the desert being the “star” of the night this consisted off one small scoop of ice on a bed of caramelized pineapple - pic enclosed for 4 persons and a labneh dish. For started we got a mix of hummus, roasted eggplant and 2 (!!) pieces of pita bread for the whole table, thus each person got half a pita bread. The "main course" of the set menu was a dish of chicken liver and chicken were a bunch of onions was the main side.
All in all the set menu felt like a total rip-off and something what you would expect from a tourist trap . If you are interested in the view just do it like other guests: go up with the elevator tell the staff you are just here for some pictures and leave afterwards. You can get great middle eastern cuisine somewhere else.
Last point service. The service was inattentive the table was not cleared regularly and nobody asked if we would like another drink.
All in all I can not agree with the great rating of this place, but maybe the À la carte dishes are better and warrant...
Read moreVery Bad Service!! I've been to Neni am Naschmarkt how many times already and I am satisfied. When I heard they opened in Prater, I right away went to tried it. The first week the Service is chaotic, the Waitress doesn't know what's in their Menü even forget what we ordered and how many times we need to repeat it. It's ok we didn't complain. We tried to understand it is still new and they still need to organize. 2nd time I came back I remember we had a good experience. For the 3rd time and I'm afraid that will be the last! We came 11am and had Lunch Menu. Attached will be the photo of this Menu. These 3 pages Menu are in the table and while ordering we have this in our hand and even pointing our choice while ordering. We are a group of 8, 3 from us came later. When one of us ordered Handmade Levantine Kibbeh, the other one asked if she can changed hers because it was too small for a main dish. One of us ordered the Shrimp Brick Cigar, and we are surprise of the big portion and the rest ofcourse ordered the same even pointing the Menu that was given to us. And to point out the obvious it has only one Shrimp Menu (who thinks there is another Shrimp dish?) . The last one didn't came and we remind the Waitress and she simply replied "It wasn't in the system." So we just canceled it. So who is responsible of the system? Is it the customer? 😅 It was time to pay and we paid and leave and we have to asked for the Receipt because it was only shown to us with the IPad (let me repeat, we paid just looking at the IPad) . Then we are surprise to see in the bill 32€ for the Shrimp Menu and the Waitress said it is in the Dinner Menu (We didn't have this Menu in our table) . We took the Lunch Menu in our hand with our Receipt and ask the Waitress in charge. The reaction was absolute unprofessional that made my boyfriend angry. If only she handled it professionally I don't think we will get angry for a SIMPLE MISTAKE 🙄. Long story short, I think your service sucks!!!! I recommend paying a good staff not to loose customers! The food is great and the ambiance is cozy. But service team should...
Read moreOne star rating for yesterday's experience.
Yesterday, at approximately 18:30, I met up with my cousin, who was visiting Vienna, hoping to enjoy some drinks together. I hadn't made a reservation since the website indicated that the terrace operated on a first-come, first-served basis. However, upon arriving, I encountered a lady with a black uniform and white hair who seemed to have a different understanding or perhaps wasn't properly informed about the information displayed on their website. Sadly, her demeanor was extremely unfriendly, and she uttered the phrase, "WER HAT EUCH HIER GEBRACHT," which, in my opinion, exhibited a discriminatory tone. This was a completely new and disheartening experience for me, as I had never encountered such treatment before, neither at Neni nor anywhere else.
Although there were plenty of available tables in the spacious main area of the terrace, she insisted that we sit on the left side and handle the service ourselves. This meant we had to go to the bar, place our orders, and carry our drinks to the table. Is this a common practice at Neni? Nevertheless, this wouldn't have been an issue without the offensive remarks made earlier. Given that I had a guest visiting, I didn't feel like engaging in a confrontation, so I reluctantly chose to stay. However, under different circumstances, I would have left.
While I must acknowledge that the other staff members at Neni were as friendly and pleasant as always, it is unfortunate that the actions of this particular employee, characterized by a lack of proper training in guest service and discriminatory behavior, have undoubtedly ruined my...
