Tofu Nirvana in a Bowl – Red Bowl Changed My Life

Let me be clear: I came to Red Bowl hungry. I left a different person. This wasn’t just food—it was a masterpiece. A full-blown, mind-altering, tastebud-enlightening culinary epiphany.

I ordered the tofu with noodles, expecting a solid, satisfying meal. What I got was a dish so magnificent, I briefly considered standing up and applauding the kitchen. The tofu? Golden, crispy perfection—each cube a flawless balance of crunch and tender silkiness inside. It absorbed the sauce like it knew it was its destiny. I’ve had tofu before. I thought I knew tofu. I didn’t know anything.

And those noodles. My god. Perfectly cooked, just the right amount of chew, tangled in a sauce so rich, so layered, so outrageously delicious, it felt like it had been simmering since ancient times under the watchful eye of a culinary monk. The flavors weren’t just good—they told a story. A story of spice, umami, depth, and beauty.

Red Bowl isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a temple. A sanctuary for flavor-seekers. A place where noodles aren’t just noodles—they’re a revelation.

If you haven’t eaten here, stop what you're doing. Go. Run. Get the tofu with noodles. Let your tastebuds ascend.

The waitress was also super nice and welcoming

10/10 experience, if I ever visit Vienna again it will certainly...

Our party of four were seated with ease, no reservation needed. The flow of the meal was classic: appetisers first, then mains. Don’t be skipping the appetisers.

The decor struck a balance between modern and exotic. And yes, I spotted at least one red bowl, though I can't confirm if it was the red bowl. On a lighter note, the toilet was oddly low, making me feel like a giant.

Highlight The Saitan Würfel. Those porous cubes soaked up the sauce beautifully, and the peanuts added a nice touch.

Expected More The Biang Biang noodles were solid, the pork belly succulent, but I was hoping for a bit more garlic in the sauce.

We'll definitely be back to try their signature dish, the Peking duck.

So, until next time, keep exploring and keep tasting.

What can I say? A truly fantastic place - with authentic Chinese cuisine, a nice atmosphere, and friendly service and owners. It's a must go - both for a cozy lunch or a special night out. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I tried the beef dumplings, the duck rolls, and the biang biang noodles. The attention to detail was incredible - and everything was obviously homemade with love. The food was all tasty and fresh - and I especially enjoyed the hand pulled noodles. And I'm not sure I've had better Peking duck in Europe - it was on par with what I've eaten in Beijing. 🤤

The lunch special was affordable by Viennese standards, too - and came with salad or soup. So a business lunch works well, too. 🥟

Couldn't recommend Red Bowl more - definitely give it a try! You won't be...

The food was very delicious. The biang biang noodles were very good and chewy. The only down side was that the beef was rather dry (probably cooked a bit too long and a less preferable cut of meat). I had edamame (was coated in, what seems to be house made, chili oil and not just with simple sea salt), zhong jiao zi and the biang biang beef. Spice level was also very nice and I'd recommend 1-2 peppers for most people with a weak to medium spice tolerance. Those who like it spicy should definitely go for 3 chilis at least.

Anything but the Peking duck and the cake tasted pretty good. But I can guarantee that you’ll find something here that you’ll really enjoy. The setting is kind of nice for family gatherings as well. Sadly, the duck, despite the grand presentation, was too dry and salty. And they charged for additional wraps. So, a complete letdown for me. Yet, I can easily recommend the spot to all the Chinese food fans. I will surely return to get some noods there again.
