My wife is vegetarian so I like to find a restaurant that will cater well for her, so whilst on holiday in vienna found this lovely little bistro style vegan restaurant. The food was really special and the service was exceptional. The waitress was very helpful explaining the menu and recomending a very good bottle of wine. The chef/owner was very pleased to explain to us how she prepares her own protein alternatives from mushrooms or wheat, and how the food was prepared. An amazing experience with beautiful food and excellent service. However, just one regret and that was that we found this delightful place on our last night! I would love to return to try more from the menu!!!

Amazing traditional Austrian food turned vegan! 💚 We ordered the Leberknödelsuppe as a starter, which was really good! Reminded me of my childhood 😅 As main courses we ordered the Schnitzel and Spaghetti Carbonara and both was really tasty. I especially liked the carbonara aspire and the grated vegan cheese on top. The service employee was very nice, she said it was her first day, but I think she did a great job! :) The atmosphere was cozy and not crowded. I can definitely recommend this place if you’re planning to have a fancy vegan date night! 💚

The plating alone here is done with a lot of love and care. First, the charcuterie plate is just beyond good and a wonderful taste as to what you are about to experience. The ribs are delicious and special mention to the large drink menu. There is beautiful outdoor seating when the weather is nice, which makes for a lovely atmosphere. The menu is truly varied and can feel like an undertaking - it's hard to choose, so many great options! The staff were all wonderful and kind, highly recommend everyone go right now!

I don’t even know where to start. I really do hope this restaurant renews their menu, prices and learns from criticism, because I would be sad not to have more vegan restaurants in Vienna. This restaurant as of right now is a mess. The prices are outrageous, honestly, and i’ve spent quite some money on food before but this is only fast food price level worthy. The schnitzel tastes like the ones that you get at the supermarket, the size is laughable, and the potato salad must have been the worst potato salad I have ever had. Not seasoned, obviously not cooked in salt and way too hard and dry. The meatballs must be ‘beyond meat’ patties or sausages rolled into balls, they are not cooked well enough and again, problems with the potatoes, the mash potatoes are a mess. No taste. Whereas the gravy hits you with too much tanginess and bitterness. The root vegetables are not fully cooked and also lack of taste in general and salt during the cooking process. Now, about the chicken of the woods. It is rare to get to eat this kind of mushroom in vienna, which has got me excited at first, but they do not know how to properly prepare it. First, it shouldn’t be an older specimen since it loses its famous chicken-y and sour flavour. It was too bitter and acrid, not fitting well with the beer batter and the sad potato salad. Now to dessert: the ice cream being homemade is a straight up lie. We ordered an affogato and then i had to watch the server scoop out pre-bought Eskimo ice cream. I think it is disrespectful to lie to customers, since other restaurants put in a lot of work to sell homemade dishes. The curd dumplings saved the lunch from being 100% disappointing. But the overwhelming amount of hazelnut brittle, takes away the tastiness of the curd. Take away some of it and you’ll have one perfect dish. I did like the black forest cake, the sponge was perfect. The service was okay. I did not get a heartwarming vibe from the servers or the kitchen staff, but that could just be depending on the day. Combined with the long waiting time until we were greeted, even with a reservation, the atmosphere could have been made more comfortable and cozier. I think all in all, the prices are otherworldly overpriced and not at all fitting the dishes. The worker’s attitudes resembled the dishes: no emotions, no taste. And everything is missing of salt. Even the drinks were lacking of taste. I hope this restaurant improves and changes things before the “gansl” season so they can save the reputation of vegan restaurants and then I might be back,...

Avoid

Edited 01/10/25: Thank you for your response.

At the time of writing my original review I was annoyed and upset. Below I’ve set out the reasons why, and explained them further.

We travelled from England specifically to visit your restaurant. Put yourself in our position: we arrived exactly at opening time, having planned our route carefully, only to be told “we aren’t serving as we are feeding children tomatoes.” Honestly, you couldn’t make this up.

Now, fair enough — you were feeding children tomatoes — but what really upset me was the complete lack of sympathy or even a basic apology.

Your written response here feels far warmer and more considerate than anything we experienced in person.

You mention it was detailed on your website:

We checked Google the same day and your opening time was shown as 5pm. (You do realise you can update that at any time?)

I also checked your website the day before and there was nothing about feeding children tomatoes.

The real issue is this: you seemed to regard the children as more important than the paying customers who had travelled a long way specifically to dine with you. If that’s how customers are treated before they’ve even sat down to order, I dread to think what the service would be...
