Appalling service. We arrived as a party of seven to a relatively empty bar. No staff were about to seat us but a wander round to look at our seating options helped us find someone and a table. Not a big deal so far. Got some menus. Guy turned up to take our drinks order. Drinks arrived not too long after, they forgot my drink, and only brought water for half the table, again, not such a big deal. People started coming in from outside and paying individually... For some reason the guy who was serving us took up handling it, and even though we saw other workers about, no one came to help us. About ten minutes later we were able to ask about my drink, the guy made a joke about well, it's only a non alcoholic beer. We laughed, we weren't hugely put out at this point, more we were a bit confused about the situation but generally were laughing it off. The guy came back and took one of our orders before running back to carry on dealing with the customers coming to the bar to pay. We were all pretty confused then and started griping about why he wouldn't just take all our orders first so they could at least get to the kitchen while he dealt with the continuous flow of people coming to the bar to pay. It was starting to get a bit silly though, we'd been there a half hour. We started to make jokes about that one meal that we'd ordered arriving, but sadly, that's exactly what happened. It was kind of a breaking point. The friend who had ordered obviously was not about to eat by herself and politely but firmly told him, no, we all wanted to order, she wasn't about to eat by herself and actually, just bring us the bill because, after the near-comic level of bad service we'd received, we weren't going to spend more money there. To add insult to injury, the man serving did not apologise and instead chose to tell my friend to calm down, unacceptable behaviour given she wasn't acting impolitely, she was rightly irritated and pretty hungry at this point. The only saving grace was that he didn't charge us for the food, though had the audacity to be annoyed we wanted to pay part cash, part card. Maybe go for drinks but I absolutely wouldn't recommend for food. Definitely don't go around 9pm...
Read moreUpdate 1-JUL-20: Now even the beer is not worth the trip -esp. the beer of the month „Frühlingsbier“ IPA doesn’t taste like an Pale Ale at all - more like a „Weizenbier“ The food did not improve - no surprise in that - and is served lukewarm - but this might have been caused by reseating us twice - first to rain and then to excessive noise inside - but the waiters have been aware of our whereabouts!
Speaking of which - the noise is the absolute killer for the restaurant - if there are 2 other people in the Rooms, its so loud that you have to raise your voice to an uncomfortable level and listening to someone is a task you have to really focus on. If you want to have a conversation with your company - this is not the place to go to. Nothing in the rooms is breaking the noise (would be easy to fix).
The garden might be an option but the seating is also very close so it is not really cozy.
If you are looking to grab a bite and a nice beer - walk to the Schleifmühlgasse 2 and visit the „Four Bells - Irish Pub“ - you will get a pleasant surprise - better beer and better food and a much better noise level (believe it or not).
My old review 3 years ago: The beer is good but the food is just OK and most of the time not...
Read moreWieden Bräu is a true gem in Vienna! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine sense of hospitality that made me feel right at home. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing meal or a casual evening with friends. The star of the show, however, is undoubtedly the food. They serve classic Viennese delicacies with Austrian specialties and modern delicacies, which can also be enjoyed in their idyllic garden. I tried their signature burger, Brewer’s Burger, and it was hands down one of the best I've ever had. The patty was juicy and cooked to perfection, with a perfect balance of flavors that left me wanting more. The fresh ingredients and attention to detail in every bite were evident, making it a truly memorable experience.
But what really sets Wieden Bräu apart is the kindness and attentiveness of the hosts. They went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our visit was enjoyable, making us feel like valued guests rather than just customers. It's rare to find such genuine care in the service industry, and it made the entire experience even more special.
If you're in Vienna and looking for a place that makes you feel like family, Wieden Bräu is an...
