Old Terrace Dhanmondi — Restaurant in Dhaka Metropolitan

Old Terrace, located in the Star Kebab building at Dhanmondi 12/A, has a fantastic terrace with a great view of Abahani Club Field and the Dhanmondi area. The ambience is perfect for a casual hangout or a date. However, I found the indoor seating more comfortable, though many chairs were broken or not well-maintained.

I visited twice in the last two months and tried two different platters. The Surf n Turf platter (seafood) was excellent—well-cooked, flavorful, and great value for money. I would definitely order it again. However, the Tandoori Chicken Platter was disappointing. The Thai soup was good, but the tandoori chicken itself was too spicy, tough, and seemed either undercooked or pre-cooked and served cold.

If you visit, I recommend trying the Surf n Turf platter or exploring other menu options. Also, keep in mind that the terrace is a smoking zone, so if you're with family or prefer a smoke-free environment, it's better to sit inside.

Old Terrace is hands down one of the best places to relax and unwind! From the moment we stepped in, we were blown away by the beautiful interior and the cozy setup. The terrace view is absolutely stunning and creates a serene, peaceful atmosphere – a perfect escape from the usual city noise. It almost feels like home here, which is such a rare find.

What made our experience even more special was the incredible service. Rakib bhaiyya , one of the amazing staff members, was exceptionally kind and attentive. He went above and beyond to make sure we were having the best experience possible, checking in with us regularly and ensuring we had everything we needed. His warmth and genuine care for the customers truly stood out. And let me tell you, he makes the best coffee ever! I’ve even started calling it the “Rakib Special Coffee” – it’s that good!

So i discovered this restaurant and ordered the wonton chili oil. Previously, i ordered wonton chili oil from dim sum town which was quite good. When the food came, i saw it was all in black black sauce( maybe worchester sauce) instead of being red and abudance chili flakes was smashed inside. Also, i have tried wonton chili oil from yum cha which has a reddish paste and also they are not spicy at all. So back to my current situation, the moment i put one inside my mouth, my mouth started burning and i prevented my mom who were having a bite from it. There was no chicken filling and all i know my mouth was burning. Now, at midnight 4 AM, i am experiencing extreme stomach pain and my body feel sick after having such food. I could not tell what they have mixed in the food which is why i am experiencing such pain and also writing my feeling in the middle of this night. Please do not order food from this restaurant. It is a scam and you can be sick...
