I would highly recommend against dining at this establishment.
We arrived 10 minutes early to our 9pm reservation. We had a reservation for three people, our friend couldn’t make it so we were now a party of two. Upon arriving we were greeted by a wearer white hostess. The only white person on staff.
She abruptly and with attitude told us our table would need to be adjusted from three to two people (literally one table setting). We were sat at the cocktail section to wait for our table.
In the time we were waiting for ONE table setting to be adjusted - Multiple couples were sat in the lounge then directed to their tables for dining.
It was not a coincidence that all these couples seating prior to us were white and it also isn’t a coincidence that every single person dining at this establishment was white.
I then proceeded to ask one of the staff members what was going on, there were multiple available tables that we could see during this long wait period additionally we were the only two people left in the cocktail holding section.
After confronting the staff we were then sat at a table that wasn’t ready for us - missing cutlery, missing glasses etc. they were still setting up when we were sat.
We ultimately chose to leave at that point because the staff was visibly annoyed about having to tend to our table.
After we stepped away and left, I returned and asked for a manager and explained to her our experience. She was doubtful of the series of events that took place and ultimately all she offered was an apology and said she’d be looking into the incident. While I was conversing with the manager - the rude western woman who was our first point of contact was visibly uncomfortable and hovering during our dialogue. Visibly uncomfortable knowing she was in the wrong and nervous about having consequences to her actions.
A better course of action from the manager would have been to take my name and number and follow up with me about her findings and furthermore having the hostess apologize and be dismissed from her position. A denial of our experience and a doubtful apology was not a professional nor appropriate way to handle or address the situation.
This was a consistent occurrence at this establishment as our air bnb comes with a club pass for the lounge and pool during the day. When we accessed the amenities the day before at the lounge we also had an unwelcoming experience. Which furthermore made the managers dismissal of our treatment at dinner even more...
Read moreCalled here on busy Thursday night for reservation. Everything was booked yet Paul's had space. We ran over and were warmly greeted by the valet and host, seated in their lounge after being told our table wasn't ready even though they had a few available. After being served in the bar, and relaxing for ten minutes, we were ushered to our table. Sounds of gentle waves and the reflection of moonlight on the water made the setting very pleasant. The gentleman waiting on us w dreads was super pleasant and very professional. Very warm demeanor and helpful throughout. What drew is to Paul's was the fact he was the Executive Chef for The Cliff for 30 years! Having eaten there the night before, I was super curious, so was happy to visit,, and can say the food at Paul's was no comparison to The Cliff, where we didn't bother to leave a review, and I won't get into why, but you can figure it out. I had the Tandoori Red Snapper as a starter, which was one of the best fish dished I've had in my life. The tuna was my main course, which was done perfectly, but coming off that Snapper, I wish I had just gotten an entree portion of that. Wife was happy w her Snapper main course as well as her beet salad. Son had the pasta, which was well prepared and fragrant. We had the mille feulle for dessert, and everyone enjoyed it. Paul's is on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for in life, and I would prefer to pay for the quality of Paul's compared to the inattention to detail and quality...
