Basegó — Restaurant in Venice

The true strength of Basegó lies in its cuisine. The cicchetti, or typical Venetian tapas, are prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients and are a real delight for the palate.

I had the opportunity to try a variety of cicchetti, including those with creamed cod, octopus and vegetables, and smoked salmon. They were all exquisite and prepared with care.

In addition to cicchetti, Basegó also offers a wide selection of craft beers, spritz and wines.

I tried some local craft beers and a classic Venetian spritz, perfect for accompanying the cicchetti.

The prices are absolutely reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and service.

Ultimately, Basegó is a place that I highly recommend to anyone who wants to experience authentic Venetian cuisine.

Be sure to try out this place, it's not a typical tourist place, but the owner, which by the way does not know English very well, is the sweetest ever. It you're looking for some decent small food, this is the place. Lunch, or maybe a light evening snack. We just got stuck, and ended up eating too much. The owner also gives very good wine recommendations, listen to him. Very nicely decorated as well, including a little kid's department with some drawing opportunities. Came highly recommended by a friend and the reviews were so good, plus we fell in love with cicchetti during our time in Venice — so we were excited and really wanted to love Basegó!

Unfortunately our experience was not great — the wait staff was rather rude and the cicchetti selection was very limited/underwhelming.

In the interest of giving the benefit of the doubt we chalk it up to a bad day — it seemed there was an issue with the restaurant which caused it to open late (not an issue at all, c’est la vie) and perhaps this had knock on effects. But overall we left quite...
