Quite Overrated place with average food, but good wine. Lots of tourist and no locals. We have been served by a young man very polite and nice. After him, by a young woman, not exactly the portrait of politeness. After asking her few times for bread, I had to stand up and go to pick it up myself from the counter, as we have been left waiting for it for a while. For dessert we ordered a tiramisu. After waiting for it for another while, we politely asked the young woman about it. She answered us quite annoyed, saying it was coming. When it finally arrived, she threw the spoons at us on the table, saying 'voliá!' very rudely, As she was bothered we asked for it. I was shock, as i was not expecting such behaviour. I was paying her for a service, not the other way around. Overall i recommend this place ONLY if you want to have a good glass of wine at the counter, without ordering any food, nor sitting on a table. Or Be careful, You might be upsetting...
Read moreWe arrived and ordered two Spritz, one with Aperol and One with Select. We spoke in Italian and communicated with one waiter. He asked if we could do a half size $16 cheese and taglieri plate for my wife, rather than $30 one, and I asked for polenta and polpette di manzo. One person came out and said they couldn’t do the half size plate so we just said bring the $16 taglieri plate. It arrived not looking like anything we normally receive. Prosciutto cotto and sliced Turkey. 5 minutes later original waiter asked if we ordered anything else. I said NeverMind, the taglieri plate was fine.
Spritzes we’re fine, but in smaller size Taglieri (cold cuts) not great. Polpette and polenta. Never arrived.
Can’t review cichetti but most Italians...
Read moreThis was one of my favorite spots I visited in Venice. The staff were extremely friendly, they remembered me the next two times. One thing I loved (aside from the Ombré d’ Ambra, which I had to purchase a bottle of on my last night) was that it seemed entirely designed to serve the local population rather than being touristy like some of the other restaurants on Via Garibaldi. It was nice to see the other groups of patrons interact, everyone clearly knowing each other. The staff were incredibly friendly and personable in a laid-back way which was refreshing considering that much of Venice caters to the prevalence of tourism. I also loved that they were open late, as it makes for a perfect spot for a night cap. I couldn’t...
