An unhappy experience. Very unfortunate. The place and setting is nice, we were offered the choice for sitting on a terrace or dining inside. With the beautiful sunny weather we choose to sit outside. When we asked if the umbrellas could be opened to provide shade, the waiter told us that he didn't want to do it as he had to close them later in the evening. A very strange reaction for a young waiter, especially as we were the first customers and there was nobody else that would require his attention. Ordering food was ok, we had to call him to order. When he brought the food, no salt or pepper was on the table, no big deal, the napkin of my colleague was fallen on the floor, the waiter was so kind to pick it up and he told he would bring a new one, but he forgot... so we had to go inside to ask him to bring it. My colleague is always super friendly, also now. When we finished the food and after the waiter had come to collect the plates it took a very long time before he came back. As he was all the time browsing his phone,we could see him inside; he wasn't busy doing other work, he didn't see us waiving, so we had to go inside to order dessert, and I told him: "Because you are so busy browsing your phone I'll come to you myself to order the desserts." Later, when we asked for 2 deca cappuccinos, he told us that there was no deca available. So we mentioned that it is a pity. His response was: "Well, it's no big deal, it can happen." in a very arrogant way. So we had a very unpleasant experience here. The food, we chose 21 days matured t-bone, was really good, but the laziness and arrogant attitude of the waiter ruined it completely. I'm my point of view this waiter does not like his job and surely isn't service/friendly minded and his behavior is...
Read moreWe visited Meat and Eat in Antwerp for a birthday lunch during my birthday weekend, and it was a memorable experience. We specifically returned for their steak lunch, which includes a well-cooked steak, fries, and a drink (we opted for wine). Having enjoyed their steak on a previous visit, we were eager to return, and the quality of the steak did not disappoint – it was cooked to perfection.
However, there were a couple of surprises along the way. While ordering, we discovered that sauces for the steak were an additional charge – almost €3 per sauce. While this was noted on the menu, it could be easy to overlook, and we wish the staff had mentioned it explicitly when taking our order. One of the sauces we tried, a herbed butter, was underwhelming and certainly not worth the price. Adding sauces for four people added up quickly, which felt a bit excessive.
On the positive side, the staff were friendly and efficient, and the service was quick. The overall meal, excluding the pricey extras, was enjoyable. The salad was fresh, and the fries were crisp and paired perfectly with the steak. We also ordered ginger tea, which was absolutely top-tier – a great way to round off the meal.
To sum it up, Meat and Eat is an excellent choice for a good-quality steak lunch at a reasonable price, provided you’re mindful of the extras. Our main tip would be to carefully read the menu and confirm any additional charges when ordering. For the restaurant, a little heads-up about these charges would be greatly appreciated by future customers. Despite this, we had a great time and would return for the steak and...
Read moreHorrible experience with the service in this restaurant. Not able to comment on the food because the waiter was so rude that we left before ordering something to eat. We booked a table for 4 people and after starting already with some issues with the waiter about the table we had to had dinner at, the "cherry on top" of the service arrived. We asked politely if some modifications could be made in the dish that we wanted and we just got rude answers. We then ordered drinks from which one was not delivered by a second waiter (nice and polite guy) so he took note to bring that one later. However some minutes later the first waiter came back with two beers and we said that we just wanted one of them as they had forgotten one in the first service. His reply: blaming us for ordering to another waiter, or more specifically not doing the things the way he wanted, so we should drink/pay of course the two of them to which we did not agree. After this treatment we decided that we wanted to have dinner somewhere else so we asked for the bill and after payment, this waiter even said in a sarcastic way/tone: "enjoy your meal somewhere else". This person should certainly not work in any restaurant, cafe, etc. The worst service I have ever experienced and from what I can read in the comments it is not a matter of...
