Lucy Chang -was- instrumental in getting Belgians to appreciate Asian food, so it does command respect for being the trailblazer it once was.
However, Lucy Chang is not the best Asian food you can get anymore. As a hybrid restaurant that serves a 'pick-and-mix' of Asian dishes, every kitchen they picked something from is represented by a better restaurant specializing in solely that cuisine, even in a smaller city such as Antwerp.
Where Lucy Chang does shine nowadays is the Chang Family Deals, a system in which the chain offers you a free 2nd meal or a free cocktail once every month. This suddenly makes it a very interesting location to visit with a friend and introduce them to Asian cuisine in a more approachable way at a lower price point.
The second advantage is that considering Lucy Chang is a chain, it means that whether you go to this one or the one in Wilrijk, the experience is the same. You'll always be assured of decent food with helpful (but not overly cheery) staff, which often is all you want out of a place...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped at Lucy Chang for lunch today and while we enjoyed the decor (industrial chic) and the food was acceptable, the service was awful. As a former waitress, I put the responsibility on the management. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived. The servers were not busy, but apparently not interested in taking our order. At one point a server approached the group of four men to take their order. My husband interrupted and pointed out that we had arrived first. The server objected, saying that the men had beckoned her, and so they should order first. Fortunately, one of the men said it was true, that we had arrived first. If the server had insisted on taking their order first, we would have left. In retrospect, I wish we had, because the food was not...
Read moreI visited Lucy Chang in Antwerp to celebrate my birthday weekend, and I couldn't have chosen a better spot! We purchased a voucher through Social Deal, and it was truly an incredible value. The food was absolutely delicious, with a menu largely inspired by Thai cuisine.
The highlights of the meal included the Pad Thai, which was perfectly cooked with large, juicy shrimps, and the dessert selection, which was simply outstanding. I had the coconut crème brûlée, a unique twist on the classic dessert, and it was heavenly. My companion enjoyed the coffee mousse, which was equally amazing.
The overall experience was fantastic – the atmosphere was cozy, the staff were friendly, and the food exceeded expectations. I highly recommend Lucy Chang to anyone visiting Antwerp. I will definitely return next time I'm...
