Cats don’t seem well taken care of. Was out of stock of most drinks. Drinks were also expensive for what you get. Our first impression was entering into the cafe there was no hand sanitizer or foot coverings. In all the cat cafes I have been in other countries (countries in North America and Asia), they have this PLUS toys, treats, and grooming supplies. The way the cats looked and how filthy the place was, was really l upsetting. Even the walls were dirty. The cats seemed stressed and weren’t very friendly which is understandable but having enrichment items like toys and treats would improve this. The cats were poorly groomed, very smelly, hair coming off like no tomorrow, scraggly and skinny some of them, cuts on their noses and face, and you can visibly see feces and urine stains on them. See photo attached. To top all this off, every drink we tried to order was sold out… we were there at 11:00am… how can you be sold out of so many drinks. Ended up ordering a lemonade. The lady gave us some kind of bland soda drink, it wasn’t even what we ordered. We were also to be refunded for one drink as it sold out AFTER we already paid and the lady didn’t even say anything just placed cash on our table, no receipt. I don’t even know if it was the right amount to be returned. Honestly this place maybe will be shut down if they don’t step up their game. Very...
Read moreRecently I had the opportunity to visit the first cat-café in Antwerp, and the experience was absolutely delightful. Following a fresh wave of café concepts, Cat Café Antwerp has introduced a cozy space for cat lovers to our city.
The staff takes good care of the cats and their safety. Upon entering, I discovered a double-door method, with visitors enclosed within a cage as a thoughtful safety precaution. This shows the owner’s commitment to ensure a secure environment for both cats and visitors. On top of that, there are simple house rules supporting the contentment for all parties involved.
The menu has a lot of different options. Ranging from different types of pastries and coffees, the items on the menu fit the cozy atmosphere the café wants to create. Additionally, they were of good quality and overall very tasty.
The cats are exceptionally sweet and charming. The café takes great care in curating a rotation of sweet and affectionate cats, increasing the likelihood of the visitors having an enjoyable time. It is advised to go in the morning when the cats are most affectionate.
In summary, Cat Café Antwerp is a new and charming addition to our city. With their focus on a cat-friendly space mixed with a varied selection of appetizers and baked goods, Cat Café Antwerp has quickly become the coziest hot spot for tourists and...
Read moreVery cute cafe with tasty lemonade! I appreciate that the cats have a space to go to free of customers whenever they want, and that the cats amongst the customers choose to be there. However, I think another staff member should be there, as it seemed like too much to have one person be in charge of the doors (letting people in and out) and food/drink. If only one staff member is present, I would encourage an age limit to be placed for guests, as I noticed young children running around and annoying the cats; while it should be the parents’ responsibility, it is not fair to the cats to trust that every parent is responsible. Also, the smell of cat urine is very prevalent; while I understand that so many cats in one place will inevitably cause a smell, it can be quite off putting for customers, especially since one is eating/drinking there. Overall, I would return, and would encourage the establishment to continue to take steps to ensure both the cats and...
