We were extremely excited to visit Delrobah. It wasn't my first time experiencing this cuisine, so I had certain expectations.
Their menu has three different fixed formulas and each one of them is priced differently and contains a different amount of dishes to be served. The dishes served within each formula are pre-chosen. Personally, I am not a big fan of this option, so we decided to order everything à la carte.
The dishes were tasty, but we did expect more from them. We ordered Pakaura, Mantou, Banjan and Kabuli and everything was quite tasty, especially Pakaura and Banjan. Some dishes were thus better than the others, but overall we did enjoy them. We also had Karahi Morgh, which was our least favorite dish. It wasn't as flavorful as other specialties. We also had some cocktails, which were just fine.
The service in general was friendly. There are, however, a few things that I would consider cons when it comes to this place. First of all, the dishes are very expensive and I don't think they're worth the price you pay for them. Secondly, the tables are extremely small. It was difficult for me to fully enjoy my meal, because I was simply very uncomfortable. Since the point of the restaurant is to order a few dishes to share and it is impossible to fit more than two dishes at once on the table. I do think it's a pretty big con, unfortunately.
Other than that, we did enjoy our experience and we may be back one day to try more of what this...
Read moreWe booked a table for seven at Delrobah and were seated upstairs on the first floor, where it was uncomfortably hot and dark. When we asked to move to the ground floor, we were told those tables were reserved. Yet from above we could clearly see they stayed empty the entire evening, even after we left.
Because we were a larger group, we were essentially pushed into the €47 per person set menu — not the only option on paper, but in practice the only one they were willing to offer us. When the food finally arrived, it was wrong: we had ordered chicken for a friend who doesn’t eat lamb, but instead of admitting the mistake, the manager spent ten minutes lecturing us about what qabuli pulaw is, as if we didn’t already know from the explanation of the waiter. Only after that back‑and‑forth did they finally bring the chicken dish à la carte — which apparently is available, but only once you’ve already committed to the set menu. That felt less like service and more like a sales tactic.
To be fair, the food itself tasted good — the flavors were there.
Overall: Overpriced, under‑portioned, and served with a side of denial — Delrobah is all image,...
Read moreOur family had dinner here as a break from Belgian fare and we were very impressed. We have Afghani food several times a year and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here. The host is very gracious. To start, I recommend the pakaura, zucchini and feta/chickpea/pomegranate salad. The pakaura were very tasty and light. If you like eggplant, that was good as well but I thought the zucchini was better. The rice was flavorful. We really liked the karahi morgh (chicken) and karahi gospand (lamb). Only complaint is that they really should give you more (eg chicken only had 2 legs in the dish). The restaurant is newly opened and as such there were a few things that no doubt will improve. Service, while very good, was a bit slow but given our large party, I was ok with. Our party only ordered one cocktail and no wine. Tab was approx €42/person. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend this restaurant. We would...
