Finally a bakery in antwerp that offers something different! Many gluten free options and flavors that can't be found in a regular belgian bakery. I tried the pear pistachio cake, olive oil orange cake and a pistachio croissant. The pear cake was too moist for my taste but probably because of the high fruit content. Maybe I wasn't used to the texture of a rum baba but I did finish it! The orange cake was also moist but more grainy in texture because of polenta or almond flour (sorry I forgot) in it. A Fresh Tart bakes my absolute favorite French bread — deliciously crispy, with that slight toast-like browning at the ends that shows real craftsmanship. Their Danish pastries are excellent too, and you can enjoy breakfast with a good cup of coffee in the cosy dining area. Prices are on the higher side, and most visitors are tourists. The pain au chocolate was such a delectable treat, the pure form of it was so stunning and a mesmerising piece of art — it almost felt like a shame to consume the scrumptious pastry. The price was very affordable too, in comparison to other places I’ve been to in the Netherlands. The only thing that was sort of unfortunate is that they close pretty early, as they close at 3 pm already. However, the ambiance, desserts and price totally make up for that.
