Let me preface this with something: the wait staff was WONDERFUL. Our server was a very nice and efficient young woman that seemed frazzled and doing a little too much but she helped us with everything and brought us our food really quickly. She was fantastic, but that was about the only thing we enjoyed there.
Firstly, we had to get a reservation. This place is only open for a few hours a day, and we were of the understanding that was because everything was prepared fresh. And maybe it is! But it didn't really taste like it. We ordered the honey roasted pork with fried noodles, char siu pork noodle soup, dim sum barbecue pork steamed buns and siu mai steamed pork dumplings. The pork slices in the soup and with the fried noodles were INCREDIBLY tough, just extremely chewy. The soup base tasted exactly like Knorr chicken bouillon with no adjustments. I liked the barbecue pork buns alright, though my boyfriend found the middle texture too mushy. And this is entirely conjecture, but my boyfriend found the pork dumplings to be alright but they didn't taste really homemade. Take that opinion with a grain of salt, as well as the Knorr claim, but I can only comment on what I think to be the case.
Regardless, the meat was undeniably really tough and unappetizing and we were just very disappointed. We had high expectations because of other reviews my boyfriend had read and the fact it was reservation only and open for so little time each day. However, in our opinion, this was not worth what we paid. No hate to any of the workers but this was a poor and expensive experience we would...
Β Β Β Read moreHad a good experience at this small family run Cantonese restaurant. The interior is tight but cosy. More suited for couples and small groups of up to 4.
The menu has an extensive selection of dishes. It helped that highlights are written on a board in English.
HOME STYLED, MSG FREE The food is home styled and had good "wok-hei" (high wok heat that infuses flavors).
Accordingly as confirmed by the waitress, dishes are MSG-free but still tasty. I didn't have any post meal dry-mouth or sickly after effects.
πΈοΈ Egg fried rice (θηι₯) ππππ Nice. Small serving enough for 1.
πΈοΈ Dumpling soup (ζ°΄ι₯Ίζ±€) ππππ Delicate dumplings, flavourful soup base. Small serving enough for 1.
πΈοΈ Cuttlefish with pepper salt (ζ€ηι±Ώι±Ό) πππ Savoury, slightly spicy. Too salty to eat on its own and needs to be paired with a plainer dish, like rice. Medium sized and enough for sharing.
Good, quick service. SA little pricey but good...
