WASBAR — Restaurant in Antwerp

After enjoying a lovely night out in Antwerp I’m a sorry to say that my morning was completely ruined by Wasbar. The food was extremely overpriced and disappointing in taste; the quality wasn’t much better than a McDonalds breakfast. For €14 I would expect a freshly cooked meal but I couldn’t even get that. The eggs were fake and heated in the microwave, the same type of quality egg that you get at fast food joint. Additionally, the chocolate bread wasn’t very chocolate at all. I wish I took a picture to show here but it was dryer than the Sahara desert. There was maybe a drop or two of chocolate in the bread which was no more than a few milimiters in length. Extremely disappointing. Furthermore there is this loud buzzer that constantly goes off which ruined my dinning experience. A quick solution to this could have been to close the door where the noise came from. Perhaps the buzzer is there to tell the employees to get back to work. Dud suds: More bar and less 'Was'. This 2012 outlet was refurbished during Covid adding ≅50% more seating both inside and out (there's nice sunny terrace). The new decor is fresh and enjoyable even if it is not as fun. However, the service has dropped significantly. It is as if the staff and kitchen can't cope with the footfall because service is rushed and slightly random/inexperienced. Toilet's are clean, but staff is too busy to replenish the essentials like paper (note: toilet are in basement with stairs). You order any manner of salads and bagels using an online app (staff is too busy to take your order though thankfully they do check your Covid status). The food is OK, but forgettable. (Graaf van Egmontstraat) Food was good. Service and drinks could definitely be better! My friend ordered a Cafe Frappé whick looked nothing like the one in the picture. it tasted very bland, barely any coffee and sugar in it. We sent it back cuz it was very expensive as well! When the barista came back with the "new" drink (that at least looked like the one in the picture) he started mansplaining me about the coffee. Basically saying he did it right and he just added the whipped cream to satisfy us and that we should know better next time. He also could've just serve the coffee and leave.
