We have been to this place on August 16 at 2pm, for a beer, but unfortunately we were told because this is a restaurant and we had to order food. We respected this and left. Our waiter though, thought it would be clever to make a sarcastic comment as a fairwel. Whilst pointing to the center of Bruge he said: "for frozen food, go that way to the city center". So listen what actually happened mate. My brother who is in the autism spectrum really wanted to use your toilet for his number 2. So I thought not to take advantage of your hospitality and order a nice local beer and a soft drink. You found it proper to be sarcastic for a reason I cannot apprehend, and I let it go at the moment to avoid causing discomfort to my brother. I understand that your beautiful place is suffering from over-tourism and you are fed up. However, you are not skilled to judge who is a bad tourist and who is not. If you thought we left because we found your menu pricy, now you know that was not the reason. In fact, I find your menu very reasonable comparing the price of a portion of chips in the center. I gave you 5 stars because my brother was very pleased by your...

Went there for a late afternoon lunch, so very few guests. Food was barely okay but did not match the menus’s description, so it was a disappointment.

Service was so awkward we couldn’t wait to leave that place immediately. We asked to lower the music which was excessively loud inside (we were the only ones sitting inside), the waiter rolled his eyes and declined as the other guests in the exterior terrace wanted music. When we asked him to bring us something, he asked us if there we needed anything else so that he wouldn’t have to return.

Waiter made too many lame jokes that nobody liked and was getting on our nerves.

He wouldn’t split the bill equally in 3 as we asked him.

I see that the owner has replied to other past negative reviews in a very rude way, which says a lot about the kind of...

Very good old preserved building sting from 1612. The chandelier on the first floor is the highlight. The toilets are on the first level.

But the food and staff is under performing for the price range.

The meat lover plate for 27,50€ has Ok beef , the fries were frozen originally then cooked once. On top, the service is bad , blunt. I asked for tap water to drink. "NO, you must pay". In Belgium, restaurants don't have to offer free water.

And to finish their POS card was not working at all. I paid by cash.

To sum up , 27,5€ for an average beef and fries...

If you are looking for a quaint, rustic setting with delicious food this is your place. The menu is simple but every diner in our group said that their starter and main was delicious. The waiter was attentive, had a good sense of humor and was welcoming. Everyone's food was served at the same time and everyone's dish was fresh from the kitchen, piping hot. The food was flavorsome and I would definitely recommend a visit to this little hidden gem. All main dishes were gluten free too.
