A very underwhelming / borderline disappointing experience. We decided to give the restaurant as it looked so promising and it always looked busy when passing by (which is usually a good sign). Unfortunately we were let down on multiple fronts which I will detail below: Food 3/5 We ordered the following: - snails (6 pieces for 15 Euros, good, no complaints) - frog legs (excellent) - cheese croquettes (okay-ish, nothing great but quite overpriced at 16 euros for 2 pieces) - shrimp croquette (1 piece cost 11 euros and it was very fishy, as if it was made with frozen, low grade shrimps, wouldn't recommend it) - mussels in snail butter (very average, lacked salt and flavour overall) - the fries accompanying the mussels were hard, as if double or triple cooked, which can quickly turn hard when cooling down - rabbit in white sauce (at 28.50 Euros, the only rabbit dish on the menu and it was very bland, the white sauce tasted like double cream with almost no seasoning or salt) - veal tongue stew (24.50 Euros, excellent, probably our favourite dish) I attached photos with all the food and the receipt totalling €153.10 for your reference (for 2 people and no alcoholic drinks) Service 5/5 Pedro was very friendly and attentive with great customer service skills Ambiance 1/5 That night it was particularly hot in Brussels. The problem is that they don't have AC. We asked if they could turn it on and we were told that they don't actually have AC so, in all honesty, we were literally sweating the whole time. My clothes got stuck to the skin and the couch, drenched even before the food started arriving. Shortly after we started eating, all we wanted was to just get out of this sauna and get some fresh air outside. It's mind boggling how an expensive restaurant cannot bother with basic comfort for their clients. Unacceptable by any standards. Based on our experience here, I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice time or delicious food in Brussels.

We came here for a late lunch (around 2 p.m.) and felt grateful they could serve us without a reservation. The restaurant is lovely and has a warm ambiance. Unfortunately for us, we got a server with a poor attitude. Our bill for three people was € 125, so it wasn't as if we were wasting his time or the restaurant's table. My husband and I ordered the mussels/frites; our son ordered the eel in a green sauce. The guys got beer; I ordered white wine. The mussels were good. Our son wanted to try the eel with green sauce (a specialty in Belgium), but he discovered it has a lot of bones and said he wouldn't choose that again. You can see from the photo how few frites were served (and no, we hadn't eaten any before the photo was taken). But beyond that, the server brought nothing to put the discarded mussels shells on! If you've ever eaten mussels, you know that is absolutely necessary, and any server would know that. If the server had ever checked on us during the rest of the meal (he did not!), we could have politely asked him for the required plates. But he did not. I had to seek help from one of his colleagues, who looked quite surprised that plates hadn't been brought out with the pots of mussels. Then, when the server finally reappeared with the bill, he twice suggested the tip button for my husband to use. Service charges are included in the bill for most restaurants in Europe, and this particular server did *nothing* to distinguish himself to earn more. His attitude reflects poorly on the restaurant.

I had the pleasure of dining at Aux Armes de Bruxelles during my recent visit to Brussels, and it was truly a remarkable experience. Located in the heart of the city, this historic brasserie offers an authentic taste of Belgian cuisine, and it definitely lives up to its reputation! From the moment I stepped inside, I felt like I had been transported to another time, with its charming and classic interior that feels both cozy and elegant. The atmosphere is lively, yet relaxed, and you can tell it’s a favorite among both locals and tourists alike. The service was friendly and efficient. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing, and he made excellent recommendations from the menu, especially when it came to choosing the perfect Belgian beer to pair with my meal. As for the food, it was absolutely delicious. I started with a classic Belgian endive salad, which was fresh and perfectly balanced, followed by moules-frites (mussels with fries), a true Belgian staple. The mussels were tender and perfectly seasoned, and the fries were crispy and golden—just as they should be. For dessert, I indulged in a decadent cho What really stood out to me, though, was the attention to detail and the authentic flavors that you don’t often find in tourist-heavy spots. This place takes pride in its food, and it shows. If you’re in Brussels and looking to experience traditional Belgian fare in a charming setting, Aux Armes de Bruxelles should definitely be on your list. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

The first time I visited this restaurant was one year ago, and I was honestly thrilled. The food was excellent, the staff did a great job – everything came together perfectly. I ended up recommending this place to at least a dozen friends who visited Brussels over the past 12 months.

Today, on July 6th, I returned with high expectations – unfortunately, they were not met.

The food is still of good quality, but I feel compelled to deduct two stars for the following reasons:

– 0.5 stars: Food presentation The presentation has significantly declined. For example, the shrimp croquette (EUR 12.50 per piece) could have used a bit more attention and care. It looked hastily arranged – and you'll understand what I mean if you order it yourself.

– 1.5 stars: Service quality For the first (and hopefully last) time, I made note of a specific staff member’s name – though I won’t mention it publicly. The service was, unfortunately, very poor. A few examples among several:

a) While I was tasting the red wine, the waiter didn’t stay at the table or show me the bottle – instead, he wandered off to check on other tables. b) Although the waiter passed my table multiple times and even cleared plates, he made no effort to refill my empty wine glass. c) When the dessert was served, it was dropped on the table with a rushed "s’il vous plaît" – the tiramisu nearly slid off the plate, and the spoon was placed on the far side, facing the wrong way. At that time, the restaurant was not even fully booked.

I would strongly recommend investing in staff training, especially in the area of guest service. Sadly, based on this experience, I can no longer recommend this restaurant to my personal circle. Especially for a Michelin...
