With a group of 8 we reserved a spot about a month beforehand, the restaurant website and the fork app were really clear about a 3 course menu at new year's eve. To make sure I really knew that the staff called about 2 weeks beforehand and explained the 3 course choice menu and that they would work with a time slot from 18u30 - 21u00 for our reservation, with the question if I would be okay with that. Well ofcourse! The night itself we arrived at 18u45, we got a warm welcome and the staff directed us to our spot in the lovely looking restaurant with a great athmosphere. We were put on the 2nd floor in a corner, we noticed there were only 2 seat tables arround us, perhaps not the best of places for them, right next to a group of 8, but we definitely had a wonderful evening. At the end they were in a bit of a hurry, since at 20u30 we still had to get desert. At 20u55 we were done, to our surprise they asked us if we would like a coffee, even though it was almost past our slot. Very correct if I say so myself, we friendly denied the gesture and made our way to the exit to make room for the next guests, who were waiting outside until they could go in. Overall a very nice evening, compliments!

Rude service and mediocre food (and really really bad fries). We booked this place in the hope of having a great traditional Brussels dinner experience and it turned out quite disappointing. Mostly because the service was very rushed and rude. We had a relatively early dinner booking and arrived when there were plenty of free tables (both downstairs and upstairs!). Yet they wanted to seat us in the dark corner under the stairs. We asked for another table and reluctantly they gave us another one. The waiter was very abrupt in his communications with us which created a very bad atmosphere for us as we felt very unwelcome. The menu is small offering a few classics like the mussels and beef dishes plus a few starter and dessert options. We had cheese croquettes and caprese salad for starters which were edible but not particularly tasty. For main we had the mussels which also were just okay. The fries were such a let down. I can’t remember when the last time was that I had such badly made fries. In the end I had mussels with white bread instead.

Food: Wow, was I surprised by how good this place is! Their mussels were probably one of my favorite mussels I’ve eaten as they were so flavorful. Their rabbit stew was also very delicious and it paired so well with their fries. I’m usually not a big fan of fries, but I could not stop eating them. Definitely one of my favorite fries I’ve eaten! Service: We didn’t have a reservation, but they were able to quickly accommodate us as we got there a bit before rush hour. However, I would definitely recommend making a reservation as it gets pretty busy, especially with locals. All the staff were very nice and attentive as well. Ambiance: They have several levels to accommodate more people. They have their main bar on the first floor, but you do have to hike up a bit of narrow stairs to get to the restroom, so be careful. I really enjoyed dining here as it felt like a very local spot. This restaurant was definitely the highlight of our trip to Brussels!

EPIC experience. You cannot go wrong here. We had the amazing rabbit stew, mussels in garlic, cream and wine sauce, and a Caesar salad. Best Caesar salad we’ve had anywhere. You can easily share the Caesar salad as a starter between 3-4 people. The mussels say one person portion, but it was huge also. We saw the ham bone special at another table and it was amazing as well. Stellar service by all, friendly, welcoming and chill. Nikolaus was our server and was absolutely first rate. Food arrived quickly, but they never rushed you. We really appreciated that there was enough staff to provide good service. Throughout the evening no less than three people checked on us. In this economy some restaurants seem to be economizing by reducing staff and as a customer you feel like you’re searching for help. Never the situation tonight at Le Bistro. Literally cannot say enough positive about our experience. You will not be disappointed.

Definitely recommended. All around a very good experience, 5 stars for food, service and surroundings. Went on a Friday night around 6pm and the crowd was building up. The white wine mussels was a huge portion and I thought i wouldn’t be able to finish but i was so wrong! The mussels were so fresh and the sauce went so well with the bread. The baguette was very nice too, fluffy and light. Came with fries as a side, it was decent, not the best fries in Brussels. Staff recommended the Mort Subite Lambic Beer and it was great! Have been wanting to try Lambic Beer as it was unique to Belgium and it didnt disappoint. It was also draught so much better than the bottled ones. After the meal, they provided a thank you drink as well. Was quite strong but it was fruity so it was refreshing. Would recommend walking across after the meal to stroll around the Halle Gate. Very pretty nearing sunset

Love leaving positive reviews for things that are worth it - this was a very pleasant experience, from the moment we walked in the door until the very end. We were greeted warmly, the atmosphere was nice, we were given a basket of bread and butter when we sat down, and the food came at a reasonable time. The food (we got the creamy garlic wine mussels and the pork knuckle) was amazing, well seasoned. And chips were great as well. Portion sizes are generous so be prepared otherwise you might get a food coma🥹 Service was very attentive. We were on our way to Amsterdam from Paris and thought we’d stop at Brussels to have a quick dinner - thanks very much for having us! One of the best meals we’ve had travelling all over Europe. They also gave us warm tea before we left as the weather was very chilly outside which we appreciated and thought was very thoughtful and cute. Love, the Aussies 😊
