You get baguette with butter as starter which is always nice if coming hungry, though you will not wait long for food. The team works fast.

Steak grilled was tasty (26€) „a point” to „well” (it was more side well, so maybe ask less made then have it done too much) Meat about 200gr not too much fat 👍🏻 portion very enough for a lady. It was with my favorite green pepper sauce. Sauce good texture, demi glace, and enough amount.

Ordered with cooked potatoes with skin „pomme nature” - Other possibilities fries, croquette. No puree.

Salad simple rucola with a lot of olive oil (good for dryness of rucola) and 2 dried tomato. I find bitter taste was suiting here and is nice amount, fresh. So for food I would give 4,5 (would love to have filet pur) and to complete the merit of 5 stars goes to the stuff. Good amount of young handsome mostly north african motivated waiters, well organised as team without specific area per waiter, which gives nice fly and flow mode - serving fast and with smiles and speaking many languages - unless you ask for a check jn the end and one is saying to another check on that table and one forgets so it was funny to ask almost all of them for the bill 😬 because it was not arriving. Nice to see monday evening - full. Some people reserve tables, maybe good idea if you want some „favorite spot” One more thing not connected with resto the only pitty is that bistro is next to the hospital so regular ambulances pass by and buses so it is not the most quite restaurant mode if you sit outside and one is sensitive. So choose this place if you like restos with more people and music and ambulance from time to time :) Again - food and nice service is still worth it and if noise is too much maybe try inside?

Non alcoholic beer only Maes (belgian simple beer) … maybe because I was the only one drinking no alcohol beer :) so why to have more kinds of… 😁

So I had steak grilled and radler and paid 33,60€ so maybe there was some terasse extra payment? No idea what boosted my...

Lili was the perfect host when me and my wife visited Le Bistro. We had just finished our visit to the European Parliament in Brussels and needed some good food at a reasonable price.

There were plenty of restaurants near the Parliament but we were not claiming this meal on expenses or boarding the famous gravy train.

After consulting Mr Google, we were advised to go to Le Bistro due to its fantastic reviews, and were not disappointed. Being a warm day, we sat outside and enjoyed the lovely atmosphere of Porte de Hal.

If you are not familiar with Belgian booze, you need a helping hand. Lili knew the perfect drink to quench my thirst, a bottle of Triple Karmeliet, brewed by monks, while my partner had a non-alcoholic Maes.

For mains my wife had Chicken breast with a rich mushroom sauce accompanied by a dish of sliced potato, moulded together with a cheese topping, which really complimented the dish, and was phenomenally tasty.

I chose a favourite of mine, the Spaghetti Arrabiata. The flavours were so good, that I attempted to put it away super quick, but the generous helpings were such, that I ended up enjoying a long culinary journey from my first to last bite.

When I was at the Parliament I had to take my belt off so that they could scan my body. At the restaurant I had to take my belt off because my tummy had indulged in so much good food. Had I gone to the restaurant first, they would have noticed inside my body a Michelin quality dish.

My only regret was that we were so full that having a dessert was out of the question. I would strongly recommend anyone in need of good food and drink at a reasonable price to visit Le Bistro. Five stars all the way from...

Charming and Cozy Dining at Le Bistro - Porte de Hal If you’re looking for a relaxed and authentic bistro experience in Brussels, Le Bistro - Porte de Hal is a wonderful choice. Located near the iconic Porte de Hal, this cozy spot offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels both traditional and comfortable. The menu features classic Belgian and French dishes, and the quality of the food is excellent. I tried the moules-frites, and it was delicious—the mussels were fresh, and the fries were perfectly crispy. The steak frites was also a standout, cooked to perfection and paired with a rich, flavorful sauce. The portion sizes were generous, making it a great value for the price. The service was friendly and attentive, though there was a slight delay in bringing out our main courses. However, the staff made sure to apologize, and they were quick to offer drinks while we waited.

The atmosphere is casual yet cozy, with a mix of locals and visitors enjoying the good food and pleasant vibe. It’s perfect for a laid-back lunch or dinner after a day of exploring the city. While the prices are reasonable for the quality of food, it’s not the most innovative menu you’ll find, but that’s part of the charm. It’s a place where you can enjoy delicious, no-fuss Belgian comfort food in a lovely setting.

Overall, Le Bistro - Porte de Hal is a great choice for anyone wanting a taste of Brussels' local flavors. I’d...
