Manhattn's Burgers — Restaurant in Brussels

After visiting this place for years, this was the last time. 25/02/23 and time 20.15. The place changed the layout causing big bottlenecks of people not being able to find seating while being accepted and even encouraged to order! No solution to the question: if I order and receive my meal without an available table, then what? They had no answer to it. My partner ordered and while at it, I found us a table. I sat down and was soon confronted by a young employee (he claimed he was training the people, blondish, very rude) telling me I should not have sat down without an order placed already. I explained that the order was placed by my partner. He argued in a rude manner that I had to know that I can only sit down if I was holding a buzzer on my hands. I explained again that the order was placed already but no one from his staff was informing the people while entering about these new rules, so as a customer who I leave my money there, it is not my obligation to know. He kept on being argumentative and never apologized. He only said that it was not his fault and that he still needs to train his staff. How is that the problem of the customer who receives a bad attitude instead of an apology??!!! Then the employee at the register charged an extra drink we never ordered. We inquired about it and the same rude person slammed a piece of paper and a pen on our table stating it would take 3 weeks to be reimbursed by providing a bank account so we better order something else. If you’re craving a burger, this is a good spot and was also clearly a favorite with locals. We were traveling from the US on a long trip to Europe and had been craving a good burger. This was more than adequate and I think even in the States it would be a successful burger joint, with a few modifications.

I like the different taste of Belgian fries but they need to work on the timing at this restaurant, because while our burgers were served hot and perfectly, the fries were lukewarm. Typically an American burger kitchen will put fries on a plate last before serving to maximize the crispy hot goodness, but it felt like these has been under a heat lamp for more than a bit. Also, we ordered a milkshake but it never came out with the food. I went to the counter and reminded them, and they apologized and said they would make it immediately. 10 minutes later it still hadn’t come out. We planned to just ask for a refund on the shake, but as we were finishing up our meal, a server came out with the shake and proceeded to bring it to essentially every other table before ours, even though we were in the spot closest to the kitchen. They did apologize when getting to our table. Unfortunately when we tried it it was already semi-melted. Not sure what happened.

Bottom line: these are actually great burgers for a decent price, but I’d skip the rest...
