I used to be a regular customer So since COVID the quality of the food took a sharp dive and never recovered.

So I used to be a regular customer that liked the ramen a lot and price quality wise it was correct.

But after COVID I ordered a few times and I did expirence some disappointment.

So it is true that it isn't easy to have them on take away and automatically the quality won't be the same as you eat them at the restaurant itself

But now I went already a few times to see if the quality of the ramen did improve in fact it got more expensive and you get even less than before. So I thought maybe it wil get better now At the time of writing I went to eat at umamido because you always have to give things a chance to develop and to improve. So my experience :

First off all I really think the company should reconsider there graphic designer just watching the menu card made me almost dizzy don't know but that menu card is overloaded with animation and it quiet a mess.

So I couldn't find the dishe I usually took so I ask the waitress for the Kala miso she told me that the Kala miso is now the tonkotsu ramen but you have to pay 1 euros with the spice's. Maybe it is better to decompose the whole menu. It doesn't make sens who ask money for spice's should my food already be spiced. Anyways it is so misleading and not really fair to ask money for spice's what's next will there alo be hidden charges for the spoon hahah it is quite funny. So I asked also extra noodles because I know there isn't enough in it at the end of my meal I was still hungry so I decided to pay and to go get myself a pizza

Conclusion I payed 20 euros for something that isn't worth the price and I was...

Edit: After the owner's response, I decided to write a review.

A few years ago, I visited Umamido Bourse with some friends, and it was an amazing experience. The waitress was very helpful in guiding us through the menu, and each recommendation was spot on. We even learned that the owner had visited Japan and developed their own ramen recipes afterward.

Fast-forward to February 2025, I was excited to visit Umamido again, this time with my family and our newborn. I had been telling my partner how great the ramen was, but unfortunately, our experience at Umamido Bailli turned out to be a disappointment.

Despite Bailli being smaller than Bourse, the service felt slower. One of the ramen bowls we ordered was served with a cold broth, which was surprising because at Bourse, we had to wait for the broth to cool down as it was steaming hot. The service itself was fine—nothing to complain about aside from the slow food arrival, which I generally don’t mind. However, the staff didn’t seem particularly happy and appeared stressed. I truly hope their working conditions improve.

I wish I could write a more positive review because I genuinely enjoyed the ramen at Umamido Bourse a few years ago. Initially, we had tried to visit Umamido Sainte-Catherine but couldn’t find a seat. The staff there was incredibly kind and directed us to Bourse, which made for a great experience. That’s why our visit to Bailli was such a shock.

I hope this review clarifies my rating of...

I did not receive my food + my experience ordering from this restaurant was terrible.

I made an order via UberEats around 9.25pm, 35 minutes before they closed - which was accepted and I was notified they were preparing my order and should expect my food to arrive around 10pm. I waited and the time kept getting pushed back, however I was patient - Uber informed me the latest it should arrive by would be 10.30pm. This went past, and I continued to wait. It got to 11.30pm and I contacted Uber customer support, as I had received no update and my order was stuck on 'preparing your order'. Without much explanation, my order was cancelled.

This was unacceptable. It's midnight + I have not eaten, and nothing suitable is now open or available, so I will now have no chance to eat dinner tonight. That is the reason for the 1 star review.

response from owner's reply I'm not satisfied with the response, as isn't the kitchen responsible for accepting or rejecting an order when it is first made? My order status was set to 'received' + 'preparing', so if the restaurant didn't think it would be able to deliver the meal before close, it should've rejected the order when it was made, instead of leaving me waiting for 2 hours. If it was an Uber issue, then it is something that needs to be looked at, investigated and improved on both sides.

It's a shame I have to write this, as I'm sure the meal would've been nice if I had...

This ramen place is quite pricey for me, but is priced just right for Brussels. Ramen is supposed to be cheap and filling, but I feel like it's twice the price that it's supposed to be. Coming from Asia, it really isn't surprising that I feel this way. But, this place is worth every euro! I get really crazy cravings for ramen which instant noodles can never satiate. This restaurant gave me fulfillment! It's all about flavor, flavor and flavor. It is way saltier than the usual ramen, even compared to Ippudo, but the meaty, umami taste is very much present. The eggs are done correctly, and the noodles are of the right texture. For lunch, adding +1.50 euros for 3 pieces of gyōza is worth it. Their kimchi is yummy and priced comparably with other Asian restaurants that serve kimchi around the area. Overall, I find this restaurant satisfying, so much so that I eat here quite often.

If you are a stranded Asian in Europe, this ramen place will make you feel like food is worth eating again. This place serves ramen in real tonkotsu soup, with the option of black garlic. The ramen noodles are the thick yellow ones, not the thin kind, so take note of that. I would not recommend the mazemen if you are looking for a more authentic Japanese taste, as the kimchi is very aged and the taste is strong. The baos are great too, but they are more like a western fusion food than a real kong ba bao. We were still very pleased to discover this gem after being baited by a few other 'Japanese' places in Europe.

(3.5, not 4) The appetisers were bland and the kimchi really lacked flavour. The ramens in general had too much MSG BUT what saved it for me was that their special ramen (pictured), which was actually really good (even though again it had a bit too much MSG). We ordered the gyoza, the spinach and the kimchi - none were memorable or I would order again (best of the three was the spinach, worst was the kimchi). They also had no selection of teas and the one they had lacked flavour. They also did not do free refills of the tea, which is quite standard.
