An-nam — Restaurant in Charleroi

I was expecting a local Asian eatery, but got a fine dining atmosphere with authentic food and great service at an affordable price. I had the Pékinois soup as a starter. While it was not as spicy as the owner had warned, this warm and tasty broth was what I needed after travel on a cold October day. The main dish was the beef noodles. This was also very tasty. I ended my meal with jasmine tea and ginseng toffee, which I very much appreciated. The host and hostess were very pleasant and sweet, checking on you throughout the meal to make sure everything is fine....

Si le bas de la ville est en plein renouveau on ne peut pas en dire autant de cet établissement ! Et ce n'est pas la manne de nouveaux clients (a table et a emporter) apportée par Rive Gauche qui semble inspirer le personnel! Personnel très peu sympathique ! La carte est un peu plus originale qu'ailleurs Viet-Thaï-Chinoise, c'était le côté Viet qui m'avait attiré, mais je l'ai trouvé malheureusement trop chinois à mon goût. Ma salade baignait dans une sauce aigre-douce industrielle à 5€ le seau, mon poulet basilic était insipide! Mais le clou du spectacle fut le canard 8 parfums de ma dame: nous n'imaginions pas qu'ils fussent si variés : du calamar et des scampis avec du canard, certes ce fut des animaux vivant en milieu aquatique, mais quand même... I know the family for 33 years now when they owned the restaurant in front of the An Nam (the Saigon back in the days). The food is always tasty and delicious. I was never disappointed, this is by far my favorite...
