Bois Savanes in Town — Restaurant in Etterbeek

Despite my numerous visits to Thailand, and despite of my enthusiasm for the Thai food, let it be a fancy restaurant or street food, I do not think I know what the authentic Thai food is. In my humble experiences, genuinely authentic Thai food is hardly available either in America, or in Europe: The chefs make some changes to make the food more familiar to the American and European audience. But it does not really matter, because the Bois Savanes in Town in Brussels serves excellent Thai food, whether it is fully or just partially authentic. I was fully satisfied with both the food served and with the service. I ordered Shrimp soup with citronella and Duck filet with Thai basilic, because they both were marked with double red chili sign, and I adore spicy food. If you do too, please let the waiter know, because they will make it spicier, which will be needed (and by the way, made me think that the restaurant is not fully authentic). I decided to eat here with my friends yesterday because the place from outside seemed cute. When the plates arrived they seemed good, and I have to admit that they were, but than an "incident" happened. My friend found in her rice a bug, we told it to the waitress that only said that it probably entered from the open window in the kitchen and to not worry about it, but after that we couldn't really eat the rest of our food. The reason why I decided to give the restaurant 1 star, is not only for the bug situation, but even the way they treated us later, we expected at least a discount, instead we didn't get any, they gave us a 0.5litre of water that was intended to be free but on the check they made us pay it anyways, just 1€ less. It was a very pleasant surprise. The personnel are super nice, warm, and welcoming. The place welcomes everybody with such a delightful smell, it's small but very neat, cozy, and the table setting is extremely inviting. The food is absolutely delicious, we ordered different dishes and everything was amazing! Pricing is reasonable. I didn't use the toilet facilities but I'd assume they are as impeccable...
