Updated review 6 years later: 2.4 stars I had been waiting to get back to T'Vosken for some time. I was disappointed. First someone was smoking outside in the doorway and the breeze was blowing the smoke directly inside to my table. Ordered the ribs and fries and the beef stew with potatoe croquettes. Meal came out in a timely manner.. especially since there were only 10 people there. My ribs were overdone with no flavor and little meat. The fries were an absolute fail and should have been thrown out for a new batch. The stew was delicious and the beer flavor really came through strong giving the tender meat a life of its own. The croquette order got forgotten and it took multiple attempts to get the young waiter to finally put in the order and check on the food to which they finally showed up at the very end of the meal. Staff too busy playing around to provide service. 1st review 5 stars: The Fox.. One on my favorite restaurants in Ghent. The beef stew and fries are always great. Krabbensalat with arugula is my lunch go to. Wide selection of Belgium beers. Staff is European helpful meaning they will come when asked. Price is good for the food. Put 't Vosken on your list.

Restaurant was recommended by a local. The severs were friendly and spoke English. The waterzooi was a very enjoyable dish, great flavor, good portion of chicken, I loved it. The croque Monsieur was a simple sandwich, not bad but more of a 6 euro sandwich not 13.5. The restaurant policy is to refuse to serve tap water unless you buy a drink. It is frustrating they try to force you to pay for a drink when you are already paying 25-30 euros for a plate. The restaurant also has a charge for those who do not order their own dish of 4 euros. Your food is good enough you do not need to coerce your customers to order more. The waterzooi we had was worth 5 stars, but the rest of the experience left something to be desired. Still worth a visit if you've had trouble getting good food in Brussels.

We were on our way to Calais and we wanted to stop somewhere for some traditional Belgium food and all I can say is that this place did not disappoint. The waiter that looked after us was extremely efficient and spoke excellent English too and made some excellent recommendations on what sides we should have with our dishes. Needless to say the food was bang on! We ordered a number of flemish dishes: the Beef stew (with fries), Rabbit (with croquettes), spare ribs (with fries), a mixed grill (with mash) and chicken Waterzooi and they were all really tasty as well as extremely generous portions (so glad I didn't order any starters). My boys (11,13 &16) do not hold back when it comes to sharing their opinions and they were very very happy with the lunch. We will be going back again.

Went to this restaurant for the second time and had an experience as bad as I've ever seen. We ordered 2 rabbit and 2 chicken thighs and they put both rabbit on one plate, and only brought one chicken thigh. When we asked the waiter(s) about this, they explained in an extremely impatient manner that they put the two rabbit meats together "because it's convenient" and rudely split the rabbit meat into two portions. The restaurant's response to this was simply to tell us to "pay up and get out of there" plus f-words. When I asked them to apologize for the dirty talk, the waiters covered for each other by saying that no one had ever used/heard dirty words. And they resorted to even worse tactics to get rid of us - we refuse to serve other customers if we didn't pay the bill and leave immediately.

I'm wondering if this is the first time they've treated a customer this way? And why were we subjected to this treatment? Was it because we didn't look like locals but tourists? PS: I first went to this restaurant in 2019 when the food...
