Tokyo Sushi Ghent — Restaurant in Ghent

I came here because I went here once years ago and it was decent back then, and the reviews on Google remain positive. We had a different experience however. First of all, we were the only customers in the place on a Thursday evening - never a good sign. I also didn't see anyone come in or out for takeaway, so you can already imagine food getting stale in the kitchen. We stayed and ordered anyways, as the staff was welcoming, well trained and friendly. Unfortunately: the edamame was overcooked (probably recooked/heated?), gyoza was okay, the sashimi lost flavour (kept in iced water?) and the sushi rolls were not fresh... our fried roll was reheated in the microwave - I saw and heard this happening, and it was also clear from the taste and texture. With sushi you can really tell when it's made fresh to order, this is far from it. Not worth your time or money, you're better off at one of the sushi restaurants in Patershol (or even the sushi corner...

Wow it's was yesterday Saturday afternoon the place was full with customers we were 3 people's without reservation but still after waiting 5 minutes we got a table and everything was perfect the food was good and the service great (unbelievable) the staff (Sam) he is such an friendly, kind and a generous man. The restaurant was full with customers not even a table was free and Sam was working alone and we were shocked seeing that he was handling everything perfectly and he was calm working in his own way that's something impressive. We were so satisfied with the service. If life brings back the opportunity we would love to see him again and the place is highly recommended and we will be back...

We went to have dinner. First we ordered Gyozas, they were ok. Then we ordered Miso Soup.. it was really salty that we couldn't eat, it was impossible, it was like salt and water. Tataki time.. three small pieces of salmon with a lot of lettuce.. not a real tataki, really disappointing.. to top it all, one lettuce was not good so we couldn't eat as well. Besides, some dishes were spicy and they didn't indicate in the menu.. It was time to pay and we said our opinion about the food that was impossible to eat. They really didn't care, they didn't even listen us. Therefore attention was also awful. Bad experience and we don't recommend...
