BAVET — Restaurant in Ghent

If you want a bowl of spaghetti that will for sure fill your stomach, then BAVET is definitely the place to go. This place serves flavorful spaghetti bowls with the concept of wearing a bib. Yes. Adults in cute bibs cause baby, you are gonna need it. I ordered my usual which is the ‘Billy Bunter’. A protein heaven containing chicken slices, meatballs & bacon. They also created a new cocktail called the Vanilla Pornstar Martini and it is exquisite. A must try. The atmosphere is really nice. A well thought out interior design with various seating options. My only critique is on the service. Their smiles were disingenuous because Waiter 101: rule 3 is “if you’re gonna fake smile at least do a smooth fade from fake smile to neutral” and not “take the order, turn around and serve the ultimate resting face of all faces in 0.0003 seconds”. SECOND REVIEW, ONE YEAR AFTER I went to this place again. No changes in quality. Price increases (now 15 euros for a portion of red sauce pasta with bacon). Pointless rule that a couple cannot share a dish. If one year ago was worth trying each now and then, now it's a full AVOID score. For this price point, you can do better.

As a study abroad student from the United States, this place was great regarding the staff, food, and prices. The staff was so friendly, our waiters were Mike and Fenya were the best, so make sure to ask for them when you eat there. Now the food, on another level. The pasta is very good, I highly recommend the Kenny pasta with veatballs.
