Food was average, classic pancake 15euro, large portion, plenty sugar, and not waiting for too long. But to save you from an unusually poor service experience and their hidden rules, 1 star for Not Recommended. All these were happening on 11am, where it was not busy, more than 50% availability. If you say you are four, but only two are present, you will be asked to wait outside until everyone is there, then you are allowed to come in and take a seat. The waitress asked us to order food immediately after less than 3 minutes of being seated. When I said 'give me a minute please', she said she has given minutes. You are not allowed to just order drinks, have to have 'basic order', which means a main meal. This happens when she required you to order immediately. You are not allowed to have side dish alone without main meal - scrambled egg is a side dish. When scrambled egg was ordered, she said it is a side dish, you cannot order it alone. She had a much higher frequency of hearing issue or ability to understand English from those with skin of other colors. When I gave her feedbacks 'wow, you guys have a lot of rule', she stared at me with that psychopathic smile 'yes we do have lots of rules'. So here is a question for the offended but 'talkative owner' - how many rules, and what are they, that you still have and I yet to discover in your place?
I saw the owner's replies to other comment here, pretty much to the same question - poor service. They claimed that they have nice manner, which is ironic. To be honest, the sneaky cunning ways of bi**ching attitude from one of the waitress was way familiar on television shows than in the reality - smiley but told me different rules in three different times which were not scripted on their website. It is either daily hostility or rather just individual racism. These are observations. If this is biased, I recon that will be targeted on individuals (racism). If every restaurant is like this, then Belgium is...
Read moreIf you value your time, money, and sanity, stay far away from this place. From the moment you arrive, you're greeted with a barrage of strict rules: don't stand by the entrance, you have only 1.5 hours to eat, etc.
We had to wait outside to be seated. Once inside, we waited 50 minutes for our food with a hungry 3-year-old while everyone who arrived after us got their meals. When we finally inquired, they claimed a "glitch in their WiFi" caused our order not to go through. No apology, just two juices taken off the bill.
When we expressed frustration, the manager (or owner?) rushed to our table and started verbally attacking us with bizarre comments like, "You want drama? I'll give you drama. I'll call the police," and "You are ruining everyone's Father's Day" while it was her behaviour that was out of line. We didn't do anything, didn't even raise our voices, we were not planning not to pay, we only suggested that we expected more than just juices taken off the bill. And she threatened us with police! Funny how she never apologized for the long wait, instead blaming us, saying that the kitchen had to drop all other orders to make ours. Isn't this what a kitchen is supposed to do when they mess up an order? Also she tried to find out from us which waiter took our order (probably to punish them). We told her that it was not relevant, it's only her who was the problem!
She obviously can't work with people. While we waited, I noticed at least two other conflicts with this lady in different parts of the room. When I went to pay by the counter, she blocked my husband and child at the door, accusing him of trying to leave without paying, and continued her verbal assault.
As if this circus wasn't enough, the food was terrible. My omelette had eggshells in it. This place is a nightmare. Avoid it...
Read moreMore than simple eggs and the eggs are very good.
Luv L'oeuf has an ethos about food made with the nutritional goodness of eggs and these eggs come from a particular organic farm with great respect for their chickens who peck freely on meadows.
Most items contain eggs, from hidden eggs in the mix of sweet or savoury waffles and pancakes to the obvious eggs that come poached, boiled, scrambled and fried. This is a great eclectic selection of egg dishes made with good ingredients.
On top of this, there are a couple of non-egg items like fruit salad, yoghurt-based dishes and a vegan breakfast containing a vegan omelette. There are also a large variety of juices, shots, coffee, tea, milk shakes, brunch cocktails and even wine and sparkling wines. Be warned that the juices, which are freshly squeezed, are quite small.
All in all, there are options to suit many people's palettes, both sweet and savoury, healthy or decadent. The quality of the food is high and presentation appealing. Service is very good, but remember to bring your card because they're doing this 'cashless' transaction model - a hassle for tourists, but does not seem to deter the crowds of locals filling the chairs. Luckily for them, they aren't reliant on tourists as they are absolutely rammed with locals at peak times, especially on a Sunday morning. This many locals is a sure sign that they are offering great food. A highly recommended breakfast, brunch or lunch joint. I can't believe I only...
