It's a magical place with a magical owner, because if you can manage a whole damn restaurant on your own because staff didn't show up ... and still make pizza and aperitif sooooo good, then you must be a magician.
To start, the atmosphere here was so lovely. Eat This is in a somewhat food and culture oriented neighborhood, which added to the lovely view you get in the restaurant, which is a mix of industrial warehouse sprinkled with cosy, crafty elements. The tables are so widely spread and each has this lamp above it so that it gives off a very private dining experience, which me and my partner loved. Also, none of the (wooden) tables look exactly the same. Really cool.
The menu is very well curated and has something for everyone: there's fish, there's plant based and there's meat. And the pizza's are definitely not traditional, but they're really modern takes with an Italian nudge rather. E.g. mine was steak tartare with bearnaise sauce and parmesan cheese. Super creative and perfectly executed.
Service was slow on our visit, which is perfectly normal if your staff is nowhere to be seen. So I found it amazing how the owner still managed to be so effervescent and lovely while serving us, giving us good advice, and making us feel very welcome, taking good care of us. Hats off to this power woman! We would like to thank you a lot for this...
Read moreSitting in the somewhat industrial looking courtyard on a sunny July evening, we came early and by the time we left an hour and a half later the place was packed. The vibe is very relaxed. The pizzas (be advised that there is a selection of about 6 to 7) are really well prepared, very tasty, the dough is soft and airy. Small selection of wine by the glass, I had a terrific Italian red. A few cocktails and a mocktail. Good selection of non-alcoholic beverages. All in all a great...
Read moreGorgeous courtyard dining experience with a fun post-industrial vibe, far removed from Gent's tourist crowds. We enjoyed the beetroot and apple pizza, with good arancini to start and one of their very light ice creams to finsih. Friendly and helpful staff, even on a busy summer Saturday night. Go here with an open mind, not necessarily expecting the street food or experimental cooking they advertise, and you will...
