(Detailed review below) Food - 5/5 Ambience - 5/5 Accessibility - 3/5 Cost - 3/5 Service - 4/5
Food - What a find!! Located near to a big factory nearby, it seemed like this place popped out of nowhere! There does not seem to be any other cafes nearby so maybe this is a local initiative. Whatever it is, I love it, it’s amazing and you should definitely stop by here if you’re in the area and needing food! A group of us stopped by here for breakfast and their options may not be much but they are lovely and also healthy! Specials are written on the blackboard inside and we ended up ordering two sharing breakfast platters, each meant to feed two people. It comes with a shot of fresh juice, mini croissant, jars of oatmeal and fruit compote, cheese, salad, eggs, pickles, and loads of stuff that I don’t know what they are, but they taste lovely! Coffees and teas were spot on too!
Ambience - The cafe has indoor and outdoor dining areas. The inside is decorated in a simple and quite hipster way. Just super chilled and casual space. The outdoor dining areas are picnic benches and umbrellas for sunny days. Again, super relaxing and easy. Everything was clean and spacious and had loads of happy vibes.
Accessibility - There’s a mini step at the entrance to get inside but other than that, everything is fairly accessible.
Cost - A little bit on the pricey side but the quality of the food is amazing.
Tip - I’m not sure if it’s worth going out of your way to come here. You can probably find something similar closer to the centre. But if you are in the area, definitely worth a stop. It gets fairly busy too so avoid peak hours!
Service - Staff were friendly and helpful, although there was a slight misunderstanding at the beginning because we didn’t know what sort of food was available and nobody in our group was local. We ended up pointing to the photos in Maps to say we wanted something similar. It did take a while for the food to...
Read moreWow. Just ... unbelievable. This is by far the best breakfast/brunch I had in Ghent. To be fair, the home-made iced tea and lemonade could've used some tuning up (yes, I'm offering my services here 😛), but when we tasted the eggs benedict with pulled chicken ... I almost fell from my chair, that's how good it was! It had the perfect touch of acidity from the Hollandaise sauce with the savory and expertly made pulled chicken, perfectly boiled eggs and yummy bread. It was pure HEAVEN! This deserves an applause 👏
And the same goes for the American pancakes, that were just so fluffy and rich in flavor. I love how the strawberries were so delicious (I come from a region that produces a lot of fruit, so I have a taste for it).
The scone that we had was super good, too. The flavor was perfect and it had the right crispiness. Clotted cream is my favorite type, but the best of this dish was the jam that went with it 🤤
Anyway, thanks soooo much for this delight and for the great service we had, even though it was really busy. This...
Read moreUnfortunately very disappointed. I was having breakfast here, because of the good reviews. So I was willing to pay the pretty expensive breakfast menu of around 24€ and had high expectations for this price. It included a coffee, orange juice and a variation of small foods (cherries, cheese, salmon, cereal) and bread.
My biggest problem was, that the quality of the food was not reasonable for the price.
The "fresh orange juice" was definetly fresh out of the box or at least streched with supermarket orange juice. Come on you can really taste the difference. The bread was also not fresh, tasted like the bread you can buy in a plastic box and put it in the oven. Also the cheese was supermarket cheap branded.
The coffee was good. I also didnt like that the waitress didn't even bother to ask if we liked it or not.
Seriously, FranzGustav: the location seems pretty nice and cozy, but when you ask for this very high price, deliver the quality or...
