I had high expectations based on the average rating of this place which in the time of my visit was 4.9. Unfortunately 3 ⭐ is the max I can give. My main problem with pizza here is that they try to replicate the taste of some particular meat (ex nduja) and cheese (mozarella, pecorino) selection with plant based ingredients. This is building up some expectations that cannot be met - simply because you cannot make cashew nuts taste like fat milk. And it's not that cashews are not great (I truly love them) but mozarella should not have a nutty flavour. Unfortunately all the biancas feature cashew-made mozarella which tastes more like an under seasoned bechamel and has such texture - instead of the chewy and stringy thing some of us love about mozarella it is more like a pudding. The crust is actually quite good. They overuse semolina for stretching the dough (or they should clean off the excess before the assembly).

My recommendation to the owners of this place - stop looking for substitutes for diary/meat products that are commonly used elsewhere and be original. The vegan world has so much to offer and no one will really miss the lack of cheese or nduja.

~ An update based on the comment left by the owner: People have different taste buds and that's fine. Some like salt, some like sugar - I'm not here to judge who's superior. I am only sharing my experience when it comes to what the visit to your place meant to me. And as I said - I genuinely think you have so much to offer and I usually don't miss "a bloody, cruel slavery flavor" of original mozzarella when I visit vegan places. I wish the vegan kitchen could be built on a great appreciation for the taste factors, rather than guilt. But in spite of whether you prefer the guilt path or the taste path, the comment I made about keeping it original is still valid in my opinion. Making references to meat/diary-based products in the menu doesn't serve the cause because it essentially encourages people will compare rather than appreciate. Nevertheless I wish you all the best. I see you have received some great appreciation from the community and...

We visited this vegan pizzeria in Ghent after seeing its impressive 4.8/5 rating and were curious to try a plant-based take on Neapolitan pizza. As non-vegans who respect the philosophy behind vegan food, we approached it with genuine interest and openness.

The dough is excellent—airy, soft, and beautifully charred, clearly inspired by true Neapolitan tradition. But while it's Neapolitan dough, the pizza as a whole is not. Almost all options rely on a cashew-based mozzarella alternative, which simply doesn't hold up against the creamy, flavorful, and satisfying qualities of real mozzarella.

To be clear: vegan cuisine can be incredibly tasty in its own right, especially when it embraces its own identity. But dishes that try to imitate beloved non-vegan classics—like cheese-based pizza—often fall flat. This was unfortunately one of those cases. The result may resemble a pizza visually, but the taste experience is fundamentally lacking.

We’ve seen reviews suggesting these pizzas are just as good—or even better—than traditional ones. With respect, we think that misses the mark. Perhaps some of those reviewers aren't familiar with authentic Neapolitan pizza and were impressed by the dough alone. But if you are, the difference is obvious and significant.

This place might be a great option for committed vegans craving pizza. But for non-vegans or pizza lovers expecting a comparable experience, it’s likely to disappoint.

If you're looking for a truly outstanding (non-vegan) Neapolitan pizza in Ghent, we highly recommend Giuseppe’s in...

Wonderful pure vegan pizza restaurant where the pizza is as good as an authentic Italian pizzeria.

Visited with friends and my first ever visit to a pure plant based and organic establishment. Restaurant really resembles a cafe style location which is probably the only downside, seating area is relatively small. However there has been effort to make as intimate as possible with careful lighting etc.

Staff are attentive, polite and they smile!

Starters we had garlic bread and Mushwings, all highly recommended. Tap water was even infused with lime and mint as an extra step. Bread sticks and a tofu hummus were offered for free.

Mains we all stuck to pizza and with my friends being local, they recommended everything! Hawaiian, Rosso and Florian (I recall) ordered swiftly all arrived shortly after the starters had been cleared. Each pizza wasn't massive in size but quite ample with us all needing a take out box. Beautiful dough which was flavoursome and good topping covering, there wasn't a complaint in sight.

Pizza's are cooked in a traditional oven which you can glance to see so everything is cooked fresh to order. No room for dessert sadly.

Price was probably on the higher end but worth it. Take out activity as we ate was massive so this establishment obviously has decent local support which is wonderful.

Highly recommended and...

Certainly! Here's a refined version of your review: --- I recently visited Plant A Pizza for the first time and had a mixed experience. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was enjoyable with music that was loud but not overwhelming. The fresh lemonades were excellent, and we were pleasantly surprised with complimentary potato chips starters. These crisps, with their unique lemongrass or gingery flavor, were delightful. For the main course, we ordered two pizzas. My pizza was packed with flavor, featuring a strong pesto and a unique combination of red pepper. It didn’t taste like a traditional pizza, which I appreciated, but I would have preferred more vegetables, especially paprika. The dough was very thin and a bit soggy. My mom’s pizza, unfortunately, was quite the opposite. The cheese lacked flavor, and aside from oil and pepper, there wasn’t much else. The dough was soggy, and the overall taste was bland. It’s not something we would choose again. While I admire the vegan concept and ethics of this place, the pizzas didn't meet my expectations. I would have preferred more natural ingredients, or perhaps the dough and cheese just didn’t work for me. Give this place a try—it might be perfect for you, but it wasn't for me. ---

This place has ruined pizza for me forever! My entire idea of what pizza is has now changed.... For the better of course, but I don't think I'm going to get that kind of pizza where I live. Firstly, there's no slices; the pizza comes whole. And then, the crust is so fresh and has a lovely texture that you know is not what you eat at other places. All ingredients are fresh and put together in front of you. This is one of the best places to eat in Ghent, and probably the whole of Belgium. The tiramisu literally melted in my mouth... I had to eat 2! The owner was very warm, and offered an aubergine and tomato dip at the start with bread sticks, and then recommended the mushroom wings, which were also fantastic.
