(Detailed review below) Food - 5/5 Ambience - 5/5 Accessibility - 1/5 Cost - 4/5 Service - 4/5
Food - This restaurant specialises in BBQ spare ribs and is famous for it! And I am a big fan of this dish and I have to honestly say, hand on heart, it is the BEST that I have ever had, in all my travels! The meat wasn’t exactly falling off the bones but boy, was the sauce just so amazing! Definitely ask for a gravy jug of the sauce! Also, the roast potato is crazy good. Again, it’s the buttery sauce they use that is just divine! They do serve other dishes and even vegetarian options (salads!) but you would come here solely for the ribs!
Ambience - There are multiple dining rooms in this restaurant some are better than the rest. The front room gets a bit smokey and I feel that the rooms at the back are probably the best. If you can get one up the stairs, it’s even better. It’s such a cosy space with books on the wall and an open balcony at one end.
Accessibility - Unfortunately, there are way too many steps and stairs and narrow spaces for wheelchair users.
Cost - If you’re a big eater, this is value for money. If not, you may find the spare ribs dish a bit expensive. Other dishes seemed sensibly priced.
Tip - The spare ribs dish has unlimited top ups! Yup! You can ask for more ribs or potatoes! I wish I knew that in advance because I would have spared some snacks to make sure I could get a second helping!
Service - This restaurant is really busy and the staff are pretty efficient. They also do the rounds to make sure that patrons are happy or if they need...
Read moreWow. Thank you Yelp and the Yelp community for finding this wonderful funky place with crazy decor and 1920's music playing while they serve the most meaty rack of ribs I've had in a long time.
It's in winding streets so do follow the map. And don't get tripped up like me, mistaking the other (closed at night) location and pout. I was looking for an alternate restaurant when I realized I needed to go further along the street (coming from the north).
I don't even like baked potatoes and the buttery curried sauce inspired me to eat half of mine.
I ordered the 15.95€ all you can eat ribs, but didn't need more than the full meaty rack they delivered. And while I tried the coleslaw (good), I didn't eat that either.
The waiter comes by with more ribs or potatoes. I didn't have to ask.
Considering I spent 10€ for a terrible bowl of ramen yesterday, this is the dinner deal of the...
Read moreBest ribs in Gent, and possibly the world! If you've ever read Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels and you've heard about Harga's House of Ribs, well then Amadeus is the real world equivalent of that. Friendly, welcoming staff, great decor and atmosphere, and exceptional all-you-can-eat spare ribs. There was a group of nine of us, six adults and three youngsters. We sat outside in the beer garden. We all had the ribs. They were simply delicious and out of this world. I managed two refills before I had to admit defeat. Even the kids were getting stuck in. I can highly recommend the creme brulee dessert as well. There were a wide range of Belgian beers to choose from. I tried the Delerium and Lindemans Kriek. Heartily recommend the Delerium... you'll be seeing pink elephants in no time! I cannot wait for our next visit to Gent and to this amazing...
