Exceptionally rude offhand manner from waitress and bar staff from the moment I entered. No smiles. It is clear from the outset that they think they are doing you a favour. Maybe it’s what happens if you live in Ghent and have to deal with British tourists trying to enjoy themselves (despite Brexit?) Practically threw what they claimed was an English menu at me (only half of which was in English) and reacted badly by not letting me get a word in edgeways when I attempted to explain this. No cocktail menu (as requested). They have a grubby little deal with the Hotel Adoma to provide a free drink with food for guests that are referred to them. They make up for it on the prices. Unfortunately it didn’t work with me - I left before ordering. Bad atmosphere, rude uncaring staff. Hope it closes down and they...
Read moreMy family and I dined there yesterday for the first time since August last year. We'd always loved the place- the quality of the food used to be excellent, not too overpriced considering its location opposite the train station, and fast, friendly service. Not this time. The waiting staff were friendly, but the atmosphere was a bit chaotic and serving was slow, even though there were few customers. Most disappointing was the quality of the food vs the price 😕 😪. Around 30 euros each for: shrimp croquettes that were over-fried and seemed to have very little shrimp in them, king praws in garlic sauce that didn't really taste of garlic (and I remember this being one of their 👌dishes!) and a mediocre stew. Have they changed management? I hope it's...
Read moreThis brasserie is located near the train station Gent-Sint-Pieters, on a corner, very near the Citadel park, which means it's astonishing how mediocre it truly is. For the most part, you get quick service here, and the staff are generally nice. However, the pricing is next to outrageous and the food they serve is overly salty. Tons of room to sit, both in and outside, a decent menu for drinks and food, I guess, but I doubt I'll ever pay more than €15 for what certainly looked like deep fried supermarket snacks with salt sprinkled over them again. The potential is here, for sure. But don't expect the best or...
