Villa Bardon — Restaurant in Ghent

I visit Ghent once a year for academic reasons, and a stop or two at this delightful restaurant has now become customary. This week's special was Spaghetti Octopus. The sauce was of the perfect consistency for the 'al dente' pasta. The octopus meat tender and juicy. Well paired with a Zolli Verdicchio. Maarten chef patron, changes his specials seasonally, Anna his wife manages everything impeccably. They are always ready to advise & their recipes are studied to provide their visitors with the best culinary experience possible. P.S. I cannot help but peek at the feature wall hung with a myriad of framed old family black & white photos each time I visit, to see any new additions. Wanted to share our lovely experience at Villa Bardon, a cosy restaurant tucked in a quiet corner in Gent. Anna, such a lovely owner, welcomed us on our arrival. She's Maltese, so are we and the connection was instant ! The antipasti were amazing, the mains, generous portions and exquisite, the sourdough bread fresh and most importantly homemade. Maltese talent has become increasingly visible, so when I discovered Villa Bardon and its Maltese heritage, it became the perfect reason to visit Ghent—and the restaurant. We had the pleasure of speaking with Anna, the proprietor, whose food was as satisfying as any Mediterranean meal should be—flavorful and cooked to perfection.
