"Super cool but guys, seriously?" Well, a not so easy one to review - I'd give it a 4.5 stars if I could and can't give them a 4... Walked in front of it so many times and was always delaying that nice pastrami experience for a better time. Yesterday, I had time and I entered, attracted by the nice meaty smell. On first look at the price board, I found it to be a bit on the pricey side but heck, I was hungry now ! So I ordered for take away and waited a fair bit (take note that you can order by phone) but that's not a negative as they work fast and hard and you can have a drink while waiting. Then first bite...it's delicious ! plain and simply delicious. But I'll be honest, I couldn't wash the price thing away. Somehow, 18,5 € for a sandwich (I know, it's a specialty sandwich!) and a soda didn't compute for me. I think the perceived value is a bit better by staying indoors. It may look a bit like a "theme" restaurant, but it's actually very cool : smiling staff, cool...
Read morePopped in after dropping off bags at the hotel. Quick google for some lunch and found Elbow lunch counter. 10 min walk from hotel and arrived with thanks to google maps, to our destination.
From our first step through the door we were greeted with friendly staff who all appeared to be enjoying their work. We got there 20 mins before closing time but we could have been the first customers of the day (apart from being out of pastrami but I anticipated that based on reading reviews) Tuna bake and a Philly cheesesteak were both outstanding, if not the best philly Ive had for many years. Chatted away to staff member who recommended some joints for us to visit on our 2 night visit. Have to say bravo as we ventured to the Fish Tank later that evening. We think we know our fish n chips living in glasgow but these were up there with the best we’ve had. Not bad reaching these culinary heights on out first day in Brussels! Thanks to all the guys at Elbow Lunch Counter. Keep up...
Read moreI have come here a couple of times during the past year and I've always been amazed at how consistently amazing their sandwiches are.
Today I strolled in wishing to get myself a Reuben or a Philly Cheesesteak just to find that they'd changed their menu for the summer. The first small wave of disappointment was washed away immediately with my first bite, that risotto was absolutely godly. It's the best thing I've ever had in Belgium.
It's more than cheap enough for how filling it is, it has an extremely cozy atmosphere and they're consistently excellent in every single thing they make to the point that it's almost scary.
When you step inside the door you'll want to book a ticket to New York, when you finish your sandwich you'll realize you're better off spending that money coming to Elbow as much as you can.
Stop reading the reviews and just get in the metro or your car or walk I don't care just have a...
