Pescobar Seafood Brussels — Restaurant in Saint-Gilles - Sint-Gillis

Unfortunately disappointing experience, we went out with high hopes, however: Service: booked a table for 5 persons a week ago, arrived on time, no booking and we were offered a table for 4 to accommodate us all, squeezed. No tables larger than 4 available and the hostess acted as this was normal, why do we even need a table for 5 when we can squeeze and fit at a table for 4?:) Food: all frozen, nothing seemed fresh, fried sea food was dry, spaghetti with lobster - inedible, spaghetti way overcooked and lobster not fresh, very chewy, no taste. 38euro a portion, money out the window. PS. The fish is brought from the Black Sea, 3000km away, so it's "fresh". Ambiance: music way too loud for a restaurant. Waiters inexperienced, not present, far from attentive. On our way out the hostess was picking her teeth in the middle of the way, blocking us, had to literrally walk around her and she didn't even bother to say goodbye or to move to give way. Same hostess that greeted us on our way in and placed us at a 4 people table, rudeness level: 100 Our waiter, Luca - tried his best to make our experience a good one but considering all the above, not a chance. He did ask us for a 10% tip on a 240euro check...

The food was a level 3 out of 10. Service was awful. The calamari was very chewy and not much flavor. I ordered the lobster, paste, and seafood plate, and there was only the shell. I spoke with the lady host and said that we don't take the meat out but just cut the lobster in half and serve it. A respectable establishment would have gotten another lobster if the shef saw it was an empty shell. And it was very dry for the 2 bites I got out of it. And let's not say too much of the rest with empty shrimp shells and muscles empty also. My fiance got the octopus pescobar grilled, and it was tasteless and rubbery. We also ordered the breaded calamari and chewy. Im not trying to hurt the business but to bring it to their attention to better the food. The service was awful and forgot to bring out some of the food, and at the end, I also forgot to let them know to take it off the bill and get charged for it. Another thing was that they forced you to give a tip and I didn't want to because the food and service were not good. I also brought 5 other friends besides my fiance and really had the same experience and, unfortunately, was our first but...

Fish: some fish were prepared good (octopus was nice), rest too dry/cooked too long (bonito, grilled shrimp). Table next to us had a pasta dish, which looked better. Dishes: besides the fish, there was pre-cut salad, without dressing or anything. Terrible. When we asked for olive oil, there wasn’t any olive oil left… (don’t know which oil they used for the fish then….). Drinks: no white wine available (at a fish restaurant..) only red and rose The waiter we had was nice and attentive - hence 3 stars for service - but all other elements of service were lower Music too loud and dance music
