I'm so sad to not give five stars, I had high hopes. The service was excellent and the food was great. Pricing was similar to the states. We enjoyed the snake shot. The drive was about 40 minutes from our hotel - Alaia. A nice golf cart ride, we enjoyed the scenic view during the ride.
The issue was the disgusting bathroom and the SEA LICE!! The bathroom was unusable. Absolutely disgusting. If the bathroom is like that, it makes you wonder how the kitchen looks... We ended up leaving early because none of us (15 people) could use the bathroom. They were that nasty.
The sea lice are unavoidable and not the restaurants fault. There were so many sea lice, we couldn't get in the water. The moment you get in, they sea lice attach to you. They are similar to maggots. It's gross and they bite. If you stay on the sand, you're fine. My friend went for a swim, 6 minutes later he was back and flicking sea lice off of him. Needless to say, he was over it and left shortly after.
The vibe is chill and there are a lot of beach chairs. Just don't use the bathroom (you may barf) and don't get...
Read moreWent there today with my husband and three kids. We arrived at 9:30am and were among the first there. We were warmly greeted, told we could use some lounge chairs and an umbrella, and that “everything is included except the food and drinks.” We ordered a Diet Coke and pina colada. At around 11:30, we were approached in a very rude manner by the female boss (?) working at the time. The first thing she said to us was: “how long have you been here? You haven’t ordered enough drinks.” She was super rude. And she thought we had only ordered one drink, when I’m fact we had ordered two. She said if we wouldn’t pay $40, then she was going to take our umbrella away. Which she did. It was so rude. Especially since we were planning to get more drinks and we were almost ready to get lunch, it’s just that we had eaten a big breakfast and I don’t like to drink a lot until after lunch. It’s a beautiful beach, great spot for families, but I’d simply choose one of the other restaurants. There are many! No need to treat people...
Read moreThe deal is that you have to buy their food/drinks to use the lounge chairs and beach. Cheapest drinks of the 3 "secret beach" businesses, maybe because it's the furthest in. Comfy chairs and more shade in the late afternoon makes for a good combo. Not as many activities as the others, but a great place to sit, and you can still walk over to the others if you want to rent something!
The shore is really nice and shallow -- you're on the west side of the island, so no seaweed to worry about. They also have tables and umbrellas in the water, as well as a mermaid statue that needs some covering up (she had on someone's swim top when we were there). There was also a volleyball net out in the water.
Service was excellent and drinks were cold. Great place for sunset, but bring your bug spray if you...
